<a3f> naoki, the i.MX SoCs also exist in many variants (less CPUs, no NPU, no VPU, ... etc.) and it's handled by the bootloader patching the DT to remove nodes that don't exist on the HW

<a3f> naoki, yes, you can deploy identical image to both.
<a3f> e.g. i.MX8MP is full fledged variant and then there's i.MX8MPL without NPU, DTs only have imx8mp compatible with full feature set and bootloader removes the nodes that are not there
