12:58 <chewitt> if you're comfortable with Linux, the other approach is simply to stop Kodi and rename /storage/.kodi to .kodi-old, drop the update .tar in /storage/.update and reboot

12:59 <chewitt> the reason we ask/suggest a full reinstall is the Python2 > Python3 change which breaks all add-ons, and they cause grief
