<colo> I'd like to test-drive an RPi4 I got with LE10/Matrix, but I would like to boot from USB mass storage instead of from an SD card. Is that supported out of the box? I find threads on the forum from last year where this apparently wasn't supported at all, and then others talking about fw/bootloader revisions... I guess I'll have to get the latest fw onto the RPi 4 first?

<chewitt> colo as long as the Pi has firmware from about April '21 onwards it can boot direct from USB
vpeter has joined #libreelec
<chewitt> You can boot LE from an SD card and use the update tools in the LE settings add-on to update things
<chewitt> then write an image to USB and it _should_ just work

<colo> would https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Backup allow me to restore a kodi 9.2.x backup taken from a rpi3 onto a fresh kodi 10 setup running on a rpi4?

<mack> colo: that will work in general for the same version, but you're going to have issues to 10. Recommended clean install for 10 anyway.
<mack> have your libraries with kodi naming conventions or NFO files locally, and clean install is a snap.
