<nerdcore> is there a command line utility I can invoke via SSH to force Kodi to update to v19? currently 18.9
<mack> nerdcore: the current (and future) recommendation is to not do an upgrade to LE 10 (currently release candidate status for x86 platform). You can read all about it on the front page of libreelec.tv
<mack> Do a clean install once you've verified your addons are ready.
<nerdcore> hmm okay; I'm using LibreELEC 9.2.7 (Kodi 18.9) on a raspberry pi 3b, and I'm finding that it fails to track a whole lot of my music files (they are absent from searches but if I browse through the filesystem Kodi will play them indicating it is not a filesystem or permissions issue)
<nerdcore> just trying to figure out why so much of my music fails to be identified through the library enumeration/scraping process
<mack> that being said, the way to update is to put the update file in /storage/.update/ and reboot.
<nerdcore> someone in #kodi suggested 18.9 is an older release but I'm not really seeing evidence to support that; LE 9.2.7 + Kodi 18.9 seems fairly up to date as far as I can tell
<nerdcore> so the question remins: Why is Kodi failing to aggregate all of my music files into its "Library"?
<buzzmarshall> the kodi version is part of the LE build so without rebuilding LE and changing Kodi's package i dont think you can upgrade kodi that way
<mack> I never found a reliable method for the included music scraper. I used a 3rd party application to generate NFO files
<nerdcore> yikes mack any suggestions on such apps?
<nerdcore> I've been suggesting XBMC/Kodi to people for years but this is my first attempt to really use it myself on a daily basis
<mack> I actually don't remember which app I used, since it was so long ago. I needed it for my collection of amateur recordings. For "regular" music now, I just make sure they have ID3 tags kodi likes with MusicBrainz Picard.
<nerdcore> well I've been expanding my collection for many years and the files are not all tagged
<mack> Kodi was for video first, with music in the back seat. Music is harder to categorize, also. So things aren't quite as smooth as for video.
<nerdcore> is it possible to have Kodi scrape music information based on path and filename?
<mack> Picard will batch generate tags based on path
<nerdcore> okay I'll look into that thanks
<mack> kodi ignores path and requires tags.
<mack> (or nfo)
<nerdcore> though the way this is going I'm tempted to reinstall with raspberry pi OS (*bian) and just use mpg123 instead haha
<nerdcore> thanks for the insight mack much appreciated

<Guest36> Hi all - I'm hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction. I picked up a RPi4 today and installed LibreElec 9.2.8 - all worked OK so I then install 9.97.1. At that point my USB keyboard and mouse stopped working. I installed Raspberry Pi OS and they both work fine there but now won't work in either version of LibreElec and I'm not
<Guest36> sure how to troubleshoot!
<mack> Guest36: my first thought would be marginal power supply. Pi4 is amperage hungry.
<mack> USB peripherals require more.
<Guest36> had a little poke around and looks like someone else has reported the same issue and its related to the pi firmware
<Guest36> I'm using "Official UK Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply (5.1V 3A)"
<Guest36> yes - Confirmed fix with the firmware update as described on that post :)
<mack> nice. Did you manually get the files, or did the regular pi firmware tool do it?

<Guest36> I had to manually move them over, it's already running the latest version as far as LE is concerned. In fact that would explain why it briefly worked on 9.97.1, as I think the firmware was updated whilst that was running

<shibboleth> apparently latest rpi4 fw ignores smsc95xx.macaddr cmdline?
<shibboleth> i upgraded to 9.97 and upgraded "bootloader eeprom" and it's being ignored?
