<Ogromny> Does any of you use pipewire ?
<Ogromny> pw doesn't detect any devices/sinks...
<Ogromny> Alsa itself works fine tho
<testuser[m]12> Logs
<Ogromny> Hum ty
<wael[m]> is pulseaudio ( libpulse ) required for Firefox to build with pulseaudio support?
<testuser[m]12> Why do u need pulse
soliwilos has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<wael[m]> I need Firefox to build with pulse support?
<wael[m]> I want to try out a program called apulse
<wael[m]> if that doesn't work I will have to either live without using the microphone or use pulseaudio/pipewire
<testuser[m]12> u don't need pulse for anything unless some program specifically needs it
<testuser[m]12> U can just use pipewire and set it's config so that all alsa stuff goes through it
<testuser[m]12> I've used mic with it
soliwilos has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<wael[m]> testuser[m]12: on Firefox??
<testuser[m]12> Yeah
<wael[m]> It doesn't work for me at all
<wael[m]> Teach me your ways
<testuser[m]12> How did u set it up
<wael[m]> alsa?
<testuser[m]12> Is ur mic detected outside ff
<wael[m]> yes
<wael[m]> arecord can see it
soliwilos has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<testuser[m]12> What happens when you click allow on the prompt in ff
<wael[m]> testuser[m]12: I click once and there is no input
<wael[m]> Firefox doesn't receive any input from alsa
<wael[m]> it was literally developed that way how does alsa mic work for you
<testuser[m]12> Hmm
<testuser[m]12> Not sure if it was firefox or chromium, but mic has surely worked for me in the past
<testuser[m]12> Without poopaudio
<testuser[m]12> Can't check rn
<wael[m]> oh dman I was about to ask
<wael[m]> chromium has working alsa mic tho
<wael[m]> <wael[m]> "is pulseaudio ( libpulse..." <- soooo is this true or not
<testuser[m]12> Maybe
<testuser[m]12> Idk if it dlopens
<testuser[m]12> U need pulse anyway if you're gonna use that option
<wael[m]> one of pulses depends is libsndfile
<wael[m]> where is that
<wael[m]> why isn't that in kiss community repo?
<testuser[m]12> Cuz nothing needs it
<wael[m]> also why do you use codeberg? just curious
<testuser[m]12> I don't like shithub
<testuser[m]12> https://codeberg.org/git-bruh/kiss-repo/src/branch/master/abandoned/alsa-plugins idk why this exists but u might need it , don't remember
<wael[m]> yes I know github is shit but why did toy switch
<wael[m]> testuser[m]12: for wut
<testuser[m]12> Oh i think it was for making alsa send stuff to pulse
<testuser[m]12> "$1/etc/alsa/conf.d/99-pulseaudio-default.conf.example"
<wael[m]> oh ok

<sad_plan> the posix patch for go package, doesnt apply. I was going to @ dylin, but hes not here it seems, so that wouldnt realy do anything
<sad_plan> it does apply on 1.17.8, which was the previous release which we used, but not on the current one.
<sad_plan> testuser[m]: do you want me to create a PR for it, or an issue, or should someone else fix it?
<wael[m]> sad_plan: Doesn't apply or doesn't work
<sad_plan> doesnt apply
<wael[m]> If it doesn't apply simply update the patch and open a PR maybe
<testuser[m]12> sad_plan: make pr
<sad_plan> I was thinking that, but Im not the maintainer for go. Dylin is
<sad_plan> sure thing
<wael[m]> 0:07.18 checking MOZ_DBUS_LIBS... -ldbus-1... (full message at https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/libera.chat/090044bec95add1680c7cc383c5c6a1d2b7763a0)
<wael[m]> i wish it was possible to do monospace in matrix but sadly cant
<wael[m]> firefox is failing to compile with dbus even tho dbus pkg installed
<testuser[m]12> wael[m]: 3 backticks
<testuser[m]12> wael[m]: it says dbus-glib that's some other thing, why are u using dbus ?
<testuser[m]12> Pulse with ff shouldnt need dbus
<wael[m]> testuser[m]12: just wanted to build it with dbus support because why not, mainly for notifications
<wael[m]> as pulse does need dbus and i have no real choice
<wael[m]> ill disable it for now
<testuser[m]12> Just package this thing if u need dbus
<wael[m]> I'll package it once I learn I need pulse -> I need dbus
<wael[m]> ```hello I'm monospace```
<wael[m]> Oh this is IRC channep
<testuser[m]12> newline before and after
<testuser[m]12> For single line use single backtic
<wael[m]> oh nvm
<wael[m]> ```
<wael[m]> ```
<wael[m]> bru
<testuser[m]12> u on phone?
<wael[m]> yes
<testuser[m]12> /markdown on
<wael[m]> pc test test
<wael[m]> `test test`
<wael[m]> okay ty
<testuser[m]12> Btw don't send multi line messages on matrix (or even replies) cuz they create multiple msgs on irc
<wael[m]> testuser[m]12: yeah i like to send many messages everywhere, can't help it sadly
<wael[m]> will try to tho
<wael[m]> testuser: apulse is working, i can use mic using `apulse firefox` to make firefox think i am using pulse but i am not
<Ogromny> is it possible to not use shitwire for screensharing on wayland ?
<testuser[m]12> Ogromny: wf-recorder v4l2 but no audio
<Ogromny> :(
<illiliti> does anyone know pastebin service which work over ssh?
<illiliti> preferably with ipv6
<noocsharp> get a vps and sftp
mwnqm has joined #kisslinux
<mwnqm> phoebos: what about merging your package (terminus-font) and mine (terminus-font-otb)?
<mwnqm> All you have to do is change the `build` and create a `post-install`
<phoebos> terminus-font isn't mine, my patch was only merged because aaron's been away for a while and it was X related
<mwnqm> Ok
<mwnqm> I will create PR
<illiliti> i can't get good vps noocsharp
<phoebos> because of sanctions?
<illiliti> yep
<illiliti> and local vps providers suck and full of spyware shit
<phoebos> damn
<phoebos> what about a tilde server
<wael[m]> Vultr?
<testuser[m]12> Why are vps providers sanctioned
<testuser[m]12> Bruh
<illiliti> yeah tilde is not bad option i think. i have account on dimension.sh, which i'll probably use
<phoebos> nice
<illiliti> vps providers aren't sanctioned, payment methods are
<testuser[m]12> Shitcoins?
<testuser[m]12> Njalla
<sad_plan> I was going to suggest that aswell ^
<illiliti> i'm done with shitcoins
<illiliti> paying fee that is more than actual price is too much

<testuser[m]12> illiliti: why doesn't ur isp have ipv4
<testuser[m]12> Oracle has a free vps but u need to enter cc, if you have close friends outside then maybe u could use it
<testuser[m]12> I tried it once but it just charged 1$ on my card and the verification failed lol

<Ogromny> @illiliti ты из Россия ?
<illiliti> testuser[m]12: my isp have ipv4 and ipv6. fyi my isp is one of the very few which support ipv6 natively
<illiliti> i'm looking for services that support ipv6 just in principle
<illiliti> and i plan to move away from services/websites that don't support it
<illiliti> and i don't have close friends that i can trust things like that
<illiliti> iirc oracle doesn't operate here anymore. not sure how it affected their vps services

<illiliti> unless you have dbus installed there is no solution
* illiliti wondering what android uses for bluetooth stuff
<ioraff> illiliti: my pgo patch got merged
<stjohn> I wound up with dbus anyway because the LibreOffice Flatpak requires it to launch and that's a fairly important office tool for me. It's a pain in the hole, but at least I don't have to run the whole service.

<illiliti> stjohn: what requires dbus? libreoffice or flatpack?
<stjohn> illiliti: It's specifically LibreOffice. Flatpak installs and runs other paks fine without dbus, but some paks require dbus to launch.
<illiliti> that's truly sucks
soliwilos has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds]
<illiliti> check out dylan's libdbus-stub, perhaps it can help
<illiliti> but guess libreoffice directly connects to dbus socket, which makes libdbus-stub useless
<illiliti> why it needs dbus btw?
<stjohn> illiliti: Ooh, thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware of libdbus-stub. I can look into it, but you might be right, the stub might not be enough. I'm currently launching LibreOffice using dbus-launch, which fixes the problem.
<stjohn> As for why it needs dbus, beats the hell out of me. It can be compiled without dbus support, but the whole reason I use the Flatpak is because I don't want to make a KISS package for it.
<stjohn> To be honest I don't know why LibreOffice is as big as it is. I suppose it's just so expansive it takes up the whole universe.
<illiliti> cuz nobody cares. nobody being paid to care, to be exact.
<illiliti> this is beyond sanity
<stjohn> Yep, life's too short for seventy million dependencies. It would be nice if I could just compile the bits of it I use. I only ever use Writer, not the spreadsheets or database or powerpoint.
<stjohn> Or the satellite control system or the artificial intelligence or the nuclear launch codes... :P
<illiliti> xd
