<Darius>
esden[m]: are you hand soldering all those?
<Darius>
sounds like a job for some kids' pocket money :D
<whitequark[cis]>
that sounds like it might not be very legal to do as a business
<Darius>
whitequark[cis]: In Australia you can employ your own kids..
<Darius>
which is a bit dodgy IMO but also seems like a cover for rural settings I guess
<omnitechnomancer>
I would be concerned about soldering quality...
<Darius>
my boss has his son assemble PCBs, he's really quite good at it
<whitequark[cis]>
Darius: do they get labor protection
<Darius>
whitequark[cis]: I believe so
<Darius>
IANAL etc
<Darius>
guess I could ask my wife who is and probably read the legislation before employing our daughter to help on the coffee van
<whitequark[cis]>
so, i want to get hyperbus to work on revc3
<whitequark[cis]>
whos with me?
<Darius>
to the battlements!
<esden[m]>
Yes, I hired and trained someone to do that job. She has silversmith experience so the learning curve was quite shallow.
<omnitechnomancer>
Neat
<whitequark[cis]>
interesting transfer of skills
<Darius>
esden[m]: for a minute I thought this was a reply about hyperbus and was wondering if there was some _other_ FPGA language arriving called silversmith

give her silver-bearing solder and it isn't even _not_ silversmithing
<Darius>
heh
<esden[m]>
duskwuff (@_discord_237471182566195201:catircservices.org) heh 🙂 I think SN100C is silverless though...

<ewenmcneill[m]>
That seems correct. SN100C is described as "Low Cost - Does Not Contain Silver": https://aimsolder.com/products/solder-alloys/sn100c (It apparently contains tin-copper-nickel + germanium.)

<davidrysk[m]>
is there presently an emmc reader/writer as part of glasgow?
<whitequark[cis]>
nope
<whitequark[cis]>
I planned to write one a long time ago but circumstances didn't really allow. I still have some hardware for it (like a solderless BGA socket)
<davidrysk[m]>
hmm alright. I'll just wait for the adapter for the t48 then 🙂
<davidrysk[m]>
(looking to use ISP here)
<whitequark[cis]>
tssop48?
<whitequark[cis]>
note that the NAND applet is kind of dodgy. I think it mostly works but I definitely recall issues with it
<davidrysk[m]>
the device I'm messing with breaks out the pins to both a header and a SOM module slot
<whitequark[cis]>
I used it on revB so that's probably a part of it...
<davidrysk[m]>
since it uses a SOM without eMMC on it
<davidrysk[m]>
so hypothetically I don't have to desolder the chip at all
