<esden> It is not just you. I do agree that it looks nice, very 90's style. But we promised aluminium milled cases, so it will be that for now.
<d1b2>
<josuah> > The final version will still be aluminium milled I always wonder whether it is better to have conductive (and grounded) or non-conductive enclosures. I assume it does not matter much.

<esden> the aluminium case gives the device a very nice sturdy weight

<josuah> And I agree: it feeling great on touch does matter. 😄

I think translucent acrylic would look better if coloured (like 90s tech, N64/GBC style etc) than completely clear
<FireFly>
but milled aluminium sounds nice too, I could imagine it has a nice feel to it :)
<d1b2>
<Darius> depends where you use it.. conductive can be a problem if you accidentally drop it on something
<tpw_rules>
weight is good to keep it being dragged aorund by cable

<Darius> if it's adonised or painted then it shouldn't be conductive though

<dragonmux> josuah: regarding the enclosure, the anodised surface is highly insulating, it's only where it's been lased off to produce the text where it's conductive, so save for very sharp things making scratches in the surface, it's very safe
<d1b2>
<josuah> Interesting! So they invented non-conductive metal ^_^
<electronic_eel>
the milled aluminium case (timon sent me a pre-production sample) is really nice. looks nice and also has a good feel and weight to it. i don't think a acrylic or delrin one would match that quality feel of the alu one
