hey there, trying to setup zsh with foot, maybe somebody can lighten me up about a terminfo question. I am missing some entries, e.g. infocmp lists kHOM=\E[1;2H and home=\E[H, also kEND=\E[1;2F and kend=\EOF but is missing end=\E[F. Another example is the down arrow, kcud1=\EOB but cud1=\n, I would have expected cud1=\E[F, but this seems to be set in ncurses terminfo. Am I missing something or is
<alarm>
this the current state and I need to use the ascii bind, e.g. bindkey '^[[F' end-of-line ?

<dnkl>
alarm: not sure where you're getting end=\E[F from?
<dnkl>
it's not a defined terminfo entry (see e.g. "man terminfo")
<dnkl>
\E[F is an escape to move the cursor the previous line
<dnkl>
(that is 'home' refers to the escape the client sends *to* the terminal - not the home key)
<dnkl>
that
<dnkl>
that's why there's no 'end'
<dnkl>
the kEND refers Shift+End
<dnkl>
kend is what you want, it refers to End without modifiers
<dnkl>
however, the k* entries' escapes are only valid when the cursor keys are in application mode
<alarm>
ok, thx so far, I tried with kend but that doesn't seem to work
<dnkl>
yeah, see last comment

so in my case home works, but khome does not, that means I am not in application mode?
<dnkl>
not sure. khome is \EOH, while the Home key emits \E[H in "normal" mode. aka I don't see how it could be working for you...
<dnkl>
you can check with "cat -", then press keys
