<U2FsdGVkX1> i might have gotten confused, it should be a bug related to meson and ninja together.
<U2FsdGVkX1> davidlt sorry for the late reply

<U2FsdGVkX1> I have tested this patch
<U2FsdGVkX1> and already able to build libplacebo and other meson related packages
<fuwei> rwmjones_: ^^^
<rwmjones_> fuwei: U2FsdGVkX1: looking!
<rwmjones_> I commented there, the guy is clearly wrong and we are right
<U2FsdGVkX1> Thanks for the comment

<davidlt> U2FsdGVkX1, rwmjones_, replied too.
<U2FsdGVkX1> nice
<rwmjones_> I'm going to try to see if a minimal patch which just adds resolve(strict=True) will work ...
<U2FsdGVkX1> maybe, i just didn't want to break compatibility, so i did that

<rwmjones_> I tried it and it didn't work so ...
<davidlt> 8 days and Jakub didn't bump GCC yet
<davidlt> https://gcc.gnu.org/git/?p=gcc.git;a=log;h=refs/vendors/redhat/heads/gcc-14-branch
<rwmjones_> that guy is a real asshole
<rwmjones_> I was thinking of switching a few projects to meson, but I can't see that happening now
* davidlt check GH

<davidlt> I am looking at Arrow Lake rumors and get impression that a good portions of folks assume that HT/SMT is a free thing. Something magical that with no cost increases performance.
<rwmjones_> people have never understood how SMT is actually implemented
<sorear> free in terms of hardware or free in terms of "the hardware threads will each perform as if they had an entire core"?
<sorear> (I am not looking at the rumors) wait, did they axe HT at the same time APX went in? someone found a better use for 32 committed registers I guess
