<davidlt[m]> Yes, that's the password.
<davidlt[m]> I have been preparing over the weekend and this Monday the mass rebuild for F38 started :)
<davidlt[m]> I do plan a short break in 2-3 weeks to update F37 to kernel 6.2 and cook a new disk image.
<davidlt[m]> Otherwise it's time to catch up to F38 and start F39/Rawhide too.

<omac777_2022> Good day, so I've managed to repeat llowrey's success to get VF2 to boot off of the nvme into a fedora 38. Here's llowrey's discussion about that: https://forum.rvspace.org/t/fedora-37-nspawn-chroot-on-steroids-on-vf2/1977/11
<davidlt[m]> Nice
<omac777_2022> I'm having one issue at the moment. When I came to install “C Development Tools and Libraries” I feel as though it installed same subset of the usual tools. ditto for “Development Tools”(installed nothing empty package list) and for “Container Management”(installed nothing empty package list). Your dnf group install "System Tools" displays a list of packages but tha
<omac777_2022> t’s not the group I want.
<omac777_2022> Any advice as to making dnf list the packages within a group?
<omac777_2022> The listing of the groups is fine.
<davidlt[m]> Not sure, but you can directly look at the COMPS XML files: https://pagure.io/fedora-comps/tree/main
<omac777_2022> thx will check it out.
<davidlt[m]> Repository is generating from a single COMPS XML file.
<omac777_2022> Does this command exist? dnf group reinstall “C Development Tools and Libraries”
<davidlt[m]> On the kickstart we use "@c-development" and "@development-tools"
<omac777_2022> Thank you, I'll try that.
<omac777_2022> dnf group install "@c-development" and dnf group install @c-development both say "not available"
<davidlt[m]> What is your repo URL?
<omac777_2022> baseurl=http://fedora.riscv.rocks/repos-dist/f38/latest/riscv64/
<omac777_2022> I also saw this one floating around with a similar result: #baseurl=http://fedora.riscv.rocks/repos/f38-build/latest/riscv64/
<davidlt[m]> The first one is distro repo, the second one is Koji working distributions (it doesn't use distro COMPS).
<omac777_2022> ok so I shouldn't be using the second one then.
<davidlt[m]> You can pull directly from Koji if there is a need (e.g. a fix for a package and you cannot wait until distribution repo is regenerated).
<davidlt[m]> Not by default.
<omac777_2022> ok thanks for clarifying that.
<davidlt[m]> I would also advice to use F37. F38 mass rebuild just started and thus it will be a mess for a bit.
<omac777_2022> ok I'll revert to f37, can I just flip the repo url and it will work or do I have to backtrack and use an f37 image and start over?

<davidlt[m]> Probably you don't need to do anything as all (or almost all RPMS in F38 originally were F37).
* neil needs to install his VF2s...
<omac777_2022> ok. thanks
<davidlt[m]> There are two patchsets that haven't landed yet to have basic support for VF2.
<davidlt[m]> I have been checking TH1520 "full mask EVB" schematics and documentation this weekend. Also found DTS for that thing.
<davidlt[m]> It seems most of the things I care about should be easy to support. It's basically from a single well known IP provider.
<omac777_2022> VF2 dmesg from Fedora 38 booting from nvme: https://pastebin.com/9FEF2xDK
<neil> are there any NVME i should stay away from, btw?
<omac777_2022> neil, I don't think there nvme's to stay away, but if you do use one with the VF2, make sure you have a power supply with sufficient wattage to support all your peripherals. There are reports of weird error surfacing when you use the lower wattage usb power supplies. 10Watts == bugs, 20Watts(no bug reports yet), 60Watts(somebody has one. no bug reports yet)
<neil> that's... a good call out. thank you :)
<neil> i need to put together some sort of harness to keep this all managed better.. have two VF2 and a VF1 so far...
<omac777_2022> neil are you talking test harness or some 3d printed case for your boards?
<omac777_2022> The vf2 forums did mention some adjustable 3d printed case. brb
<neil> some case(es)
<neil> ooh, thank you
<omac777_2022> There were others mentioned here: https://forum.rvspace.org/t/3d-printable-case-files/1216/17
<omac777_2022> I don't have a case yet either. I'm still reflecting about which one I should get. I wish Starfive and their team would recommend an official one to make it dead simple and save time, but I understand different people have different requirements.
<omac777_2022> I'm already feeling there were more pcie lanes available on the board for the nvme to take advantage of. Most nvme's have 4pcie lane capability within their controllers, but the VF2 only provides one pcie lane to communicate with it if I understood correctly. If they push out another board to correct that, I would buy it.
