<rwmjones> I got a shipping notice from VisionFive finally
<rwmjones> apparently at Heathrow ... in customs obviously :-(
<rwmjones> in unrelated to RISC-V news, I also got a Pine ROCKPro64
<rwmjones> the ROCKPro64 is interesting because (apparently, not tested) it supports being a PCIe endpoint, so with a suitable bit of Linux kernel code it can emulate a PCI device, like vDPA etc
<javierm> rwmjones: it's a cool board. Not tested emulating a PCI device either, but had to fix a bug in the PCIe host driver in the past: https://blog.dowhile0.org/2021/06/09/a-lethal-spurious-interrupt/
<javierm> rwmjones: so if you have any issues, let me know and should be able to help :)
<rwmjones> my main issue is trying to find out what sort of PCIe (crossover?) cable is needed to do PCIe Endpoint
<rwmjones> it seems hard to imagine that a normal PCIe riser would work
<javierm> rwmjones: yeah, because a normal riser would be to attach a PCI device through the PCIe 4x slot
<javierm> but unsure what's needed to be exposed as a PCIe endpoint...
<javierm> rwmjones: could crossing the RX/TX lines as suggested in the last post of that forum thread be enough? I have no idea

<ol> What's the use for emulating a PCI endpoint? Faster networking?
