maybe when x264 was first ported to CRUX, the videolan host didn't offer an API for downloading snapshots based on commit id, and that's why the tarball was hosted on crux.ster.zone. Nowadays you can just grab a tarball directly from upstream: http://ix.io/4miG

on a related note, the wrapper ffmpeg-x264-10bit.sh (in opt/ffmpeg) discards all command-line arguments passed to it! I think "$@" should be appended at the end of line 3.

ivandi: somehow I must have gotten the impression that the new source tarball already incorporated that patch. It's likely that I hit the error message "patch already seems to be applied. Reverse?" due to rushing too quickly through a test of the build recipe.
