Just seeing new 9front release, they talk about "MNT Reform laptop is a first class citizen" .. never heard of that "free from ground up" hardware!
<stenur>
No camera, no microphone. Does not spy at you!!!
<stenur>
That is the thing you know. I do not have drivers for these compiled in, but what about the UEFI??
<SiFuh_>
Screwdriver
<stenur>
Heck Putin, drive the NSA out of me!
<stenur>
Eh?
<SiFuh_>
Remove the camera and microphone
<stenur>
Well that MNT thing.. (I like the ball.) If you saw a hole in the table top it would possibly do.
<SiFuh_>
jaeger: The primitive machine has only 1GB of RAM. :-) I took out the hard disk and borrowed someone elses box that had more RAM to do the install. I did a UEFI install even though they had no UEFI support so only way to test if it will boot was to bring the drive back home which it did so all was good.
<SiFuh_>
stenur: I like this kern.audio.record=0 kern.video.record=0
<stenur>
OpenBSD?
<SiFuh_>
Yes
<SiFuh_>
I'd like to see something similar in Linux but I doubt they will ever implement it
<stenur>
You still have binary firmware blobs and such.
<SiFuh_>
Those blobs are useless when the kernel forbids access to it
<stenur>
When they are loaded they are loaded.
<SiFuh_>
I don't have any binary blobs for video or audio
<stenur>
Anyhow. OpenBSD added support for Thinkpad x13s which is an interesting thing. The new Tuxedo InfinityBook 14 is, too.
<SiFuh_>
Because i don't have a video camera or a microphone ;-)
<SiFuh_>
Thinkpad's are quite commonly used by the OpenBSD guys. So the support is very good.

SiFuh_: sorry to hear that a primitive machine with 1GB of RAM was your only option for a bare-metal installation of CRUX. Are you finding it painfully slow to compile ports on that box?
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: Slow yep ;-) painfully? Nope, not really. I just leave it to its own devices. did kind of annoy me though when I wanted to reboot and set UTC in bios and had to wait 2 hours
<farkuhar>
SiFuh_: I would suggest playing around with distcc, if you can spare some CPU cycles from another host on your network (one of the MorFine machines, maybe). But not all languages have bindings for distcc, so some ports might not see any speedup in their compilation times.

Can someone play a video file with the mpv update from contrib released today under X11? I only get error messages no matter which -vo option I choose. I did not try with wayland though.

<jaeger>
will check
<blackfrog78>
I found the reason why mpv does not work with X11: libxpresent is missing. I will send a Pkgfile to the mailing list.
DaViruz has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
<jaeger>
I'm able to build mpv in a container with the latest changes and no libxpresent
<jaeger>
still updating a real system to test, though
<blackfrog78>
Yes, but playing a video from a X11 session seems to be not possible.
<jaeger>
hence the other system to test :)
<farkuhar>
blackfrog78: I got mpv to work in an X11 session using the SDL video backend. First install opt/libsdl2, then use this Pkgfile for mpv: http://ix.io/4eIL

farkuhar: Does SDL also support hardware acceleration via libvaapi?
