<farkuhar>
when volunteering for the task of making prtwash compatible with a newly-added feature of pkgmk last year, I forgot to keep it simple. jue committed a version that hadn't incorporated my latest bugfixes, and I failed to correct the misunderstanding right away.
<samsep10l>
it works, thanks! just a question: it also removes the .md5sum files generated by pkgmk, is it a normal behaviour?
<farkuhar>
that's the behaviour I put into the more recent version, because md5sums are deprecated in favor of signatures these days. You can modify the keep list yourself on line 133.
<samsep10l>
so, this newer version, will it merge into the current prt-utils port in future versions or they are separated versions?
<samsep10l>
oh ok, U dont worry to much about the .md5sum file, just curiosity (pkgmk just re-create it when it runs with -d flag)
<farkuhar>
i do hope that jue is reading this conversation and has time to consider my latest scripts for inclusion. But crux is incredibly libertarian, as Fun points out in FS#1410, so everyone ends up "rolling their own" solutions anyway.
<samsep10l>
thanks, I will save it. I fixed the script myself modify it in /usr/bin (it is just changing the substrings index), so it works on my machine, but I hope the bug will be fix one day, either using your newer version or patching the current one.
<farkuhar>
thanks for the report, samsep10l. the core maintainers have a lot on their hands already, so I wasn't eager to burden them with more code review just now. But a buggy script in the opt collection does not reflect well on the distro, so I'd rather get it dealt with before the 3.7 release.
<samsep10l>
farkuhar: you welcome! I just send an email to the maintainer, so when he has some sparse time, he can test my patch and hopefully, set a new release with the bug fixed :)
