Romster: the new releases of readline (8.2) and bash (5.2) motivated me to try rebuilding those core ports with libbsd installed, to see whether autotools would "start grabbing random libraries and linking against everything that doesn't even need it." Good news: finddeps reports no unrequested linking of the newly-built bash or readline.

having trouble with mysql not finding openssl in 3.7
<beerman>
maybe thats our excuse to finally drop mysql?

<Romster>
why are we not using mariadb?
<Romster>
mysql better at something still?
<jue>
no; mariadb is since a long time in opt and I just dropped mysql
<Romster>
ah good move
<Romster>
petrol subsidy is ending at midnight and pries will go up, so i did another trip into town to fill my car and the jerry can for the lawn mower. finally sat down
<Romster>
ah wrong chat too for that
<farkuhar>
jue: now that mysql is dropped, some "Depends on" lines will have to be rewritten (python3-mysql for example). I know there's a default entry "mariadb: mysql" in prt-get.aliases, but prt-get depinst might warn about a missing package if mariadb is not already installed.

beerman: have you seen this with kodi?
<jaeger>
configure: error: Package requirements (dvdread >= 5.0.3) were not met:
<jaeger>
Package 'dvdread', required by 'virtual:world', not found
<jaeger>
It's using the default dvdnav/dvdread/dvdcss stuff, not doing anything special there
<beerman>
yeah.. i need to rework the package for sure
<beerman>
but first i got network problems to fix locally <.<
<jaeger>
I was able to build it a couple times yesterday, today it's not working... wonder if there's a race condition or something
<beerman>
mh never had a race condition over here with it
<jaeger>
Nor have I
<jaeger>
But I've also not changed anything about the build and it's failing today :)
<beerman>
heh
<beerman>
maybe a solar storm, who knows
<beerman>
i'll try to get into it later, but right now, i gotta fix some of my network :D
<jaeger>
all good, just curious
<jaeger>
With regards to repology, since they want to keep cruft around I'm going to add valid_till dates to the 3.4 and 3.5 configs there... I'm thinking the 3.6 and 3.7 release dates, respectively, as there's ostensibly SOME support for the previous version when a new version is released
<jaeger>
But nothing past the current and previous versions
<jaeger>
Maybe it's not setting the pkgconf/pkgconfig path correctly to use the internal dvdread
<jaeger>
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables DVDREAD_CFLAGS
<jaeger>
and DVDREAD_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
<jaeger>
It also says that, but it DOES set those vars, heh

also, as a side note, on the wayland system where kodi-wayland just comes up black, regular kodi does work with xwayland so at least there's a fallback
