<set_> Why is this hit or miss garbage so prevalent in the forums. It is like people do not follow up, reply once they have configurd an answer, and the chatter box on the forums just ceases. Argh!
<set_> Anyway /me
<set_> Dang it.

<markand> xinput_calibrator does not help

<tigerxyz> GoodMorning! I found that ifconfig wlan0 down or other interfaces, such as can0, etc. doesn't remove the interface from listing. It wasn't behave that way. Wondering anything changed or there is a hardware related issue?
<zmatt> tigerxyz: it has never worked like that
<zmatt> like, ever
<zmatt> unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying
<zmatt> interfaces represent hardware, the only way to remove them is by removing the hardware (or linux' knowledge thereof, via DT) or the driver
<tigerxyz> Ok, now I know. ifconfig wlan0 down, then ifconfig, the wlan0 will not be listed, but it still lists with ifconfig wlan0
<zmatt> (btw, ifconfig is an obsolete utility, its replacement is the 'ip' utility)
<zmatt> I have no idea what ifconfig produces as output under which conditions
<zmatt> I'd have expected it to list interfaces that are down (just like ip does)
<tigerxyz> ifconfig will list all the interfaces: such as can0, lo, usb0, wlan0, etc
<zmatt> hmm it does seem like ifconfig hides some interfaces unless you pass -a
<zmatt> 'ip addr' shows all of them
<zmatt> (or 'ip link' if you're not interested in addresses)
<zmatt> oh maybe ifconfig hides the can interfaces because it doesn't understand them ('ip' does)
<tigerxyz> Thank you, I was using ip command for can interface only. Now I know it is a replacement of ifconfig. Good to know.

<zmatt> interesting, the max row/cell the google sheets api is able to parse is ZZZ214748354 ... that row number is INT_MAX/10-10 which seems like an odd limit to me
