<Guest9> Hello folks, I just got a Beaglebone Black and am using Putty SSH to login as root, but it's not letting me if I give a NULL (i.e. nothing) password. What is the password pleas?
<zmatt> Guest9: use login "debian" password "temppwd"
<zmatt> in the rare case root privileges are needed you can use sudo
<zmatt> (but the debian account has sufficient privileges for most things)
<Guest9> Thanks, zmatt.
<Guest9> One more question. VNC Client is uanble to connect. It says "The connection was refused by the computer"
<zmatt> ... why would there be a vnc server running on it? assuming you're running a standard IoT image there's not even X11 installed
<zmatt> the beaglebone is not intended to be used as desktop computer (nor very suitable for such use)
<Guest9> Oh I see. :( Then why does it have a HDMI connector?
<Guest9> My Beaglebone came with some factory-installed distro, I'm not sure what it is. I got this mainly to try doing embedded Linux to flash on it. But initially I thought I'll just see what it can do. I guess I assumed it's somewhat like a Raspberry Pi
