<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Tonymac32> and the RK3399 ones
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Tonymac32> so the nanopi 4, 5, and 6 series
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <lanefu> Ohh okay
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> Okay, thanks a lot. Looks like raw DP isn’t possible then from a lot of these boards as it stands
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> Okay, thanks a lot. Looks like raw DP isn’t possible then from a lot of these boards as it stands. That’s a real shame. I can understand it on Radxa’s main line but why don’t they break out display port for the user to choose which extcon they want? Strange design decision

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Tonymac32> It's a Linux driver limitation not a hardware one
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> So a simple nuke of the TCPM nodes in the dtb I guess won’t be enough, there needs to be driver modifications/there’s no option to specify and overlay atm to output raw DP?

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Tonymac32> right because the driver won't know where to send the data

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> Gotcha. Well my hardware design isn’t totally at fault here then lol
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> Although it does feel bad trying to send DisplayPort over type-c with no protocol, it’s just for testing. For my final carrier board I plan on routing the DP signals straight to the TUSB546 mux, which is controlled by an external TCPM/controller
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> It actually works with a type-c to DP dongle connected, but that just becomes redundant as my final design won’t have the FUSB302 on it

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <stonededge> It’s like going from alt mode to DP and then back to alt mode lol

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <lanefu> Yeah sad that's how the cycle works. I still think mainlining has gone faster with rk3588 than rk3399 did
