<tomzy_0> What I know is that it uses OTP rather than eFUSEs but that is about it

<rpardini> Hey @spooky8086 -- do you mind if I blatantly ~~steal~~borrow your 6.6 tree for the 3588? 😄 Also: any real changes between the -rc6 and .0 trees, or is just rebase?
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> I'd prefer waiting for 6.7-rc.1 instead of 6.6
<DC-IRC>
<rpardini> Yeah, your stuff's already landed for 6.7 right...? I think Joshua got'em in already (unsure)
<DC-IRC>
<rpardini> Again... I'm thinking 6.6 just cos it's more likely it will be LTS.
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> Yeah
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> So we will update current to 6.6, right?
<DC-IRC>
<rpardini> It's... up in the air right now I think. We don't have any `current` for that family. It _might_ also (or not, equally unsure) to merge with `rockchip64`
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> I think we can merge once 6.7 released
<DC-IRC>
<spooky8086> Haha sure, works fine from my testing. But 6.7-rcX will have alot for rk3588 coming in
<DC-IRC>
<rpardini> Well it's clear from you both I should let 6.6 rot there 😉 thanks
<DC-IRC>
<spooky8086> There where no conflicts when I was rebasing my patches anyway, so it was minimal effort tbh
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> Yeah we wait for LTS tag before we change anything labelled "current"
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> It's also why I hesitate making edge an -RCx, because it just makes everything a mess
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> Example: edge is 6.6.y, someone bumps it to 6.7-RC, LTS tag comes down for 6.6, we're using time travel to make current into 6.6 because we shit all over the patch set with 6.7-rc
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> Rk35xx and RK33xx should be different families IMHO because there are going to be garbage SoC's in both (RK3308, 3318, 3328) and RK3528 as prime examples
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> They will never be supported properly and will always have borderline idiotic patches to keep them going
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> it's not bad idea but huge breaking change
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> linux and board families are really messy rn
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> Always have been
<DC-IRC>
<igorpec> i think it would be best to pin rockchip-rk3588 current to 6.6, optionally backport interesting core features from 6.7 and drop midstream and collabora. Especially if 6.6 is LTS, but also if not and if all this doesn't represent lots of work.
