<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> Just received my opi 5plus and visionfive 2 boards. Excited to try stuff out!
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> I have a RK3566 tv box and have run both Armbian (Station M2 images) and Fedora (using efi) successfully.
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> I guess if you use the correct dtb for the 3566, you should be able to run mainline without any problem
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> can someone please help me figure out my ethernet problems on rk3588? (system info, Host: Opi5+, Kernel: rkr6, OS: ArchLinuxARM)
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> can someone please help me figure out my ethernet problems on rk3588? (system info, Host: Opi5+, Kernel: rkr6, OS: ArchLinuxARM, boot method: UEFI)
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> and yes, I know that about everything I just mentioned is unsupported by you. except the kernel.
<DC-IRC> <rpardini> @infinity_q: are you booting the kernel with the full DTB, or relying on ACPI?
<DC-IRC> <rpardini> I dunno about that specific board, but I've had pci2x1 eth troubles with some boards when booting with edk2, even with the full DTB. Wasn't an issue for GMAC eths.
<DC-IRC> <rpardini> wild guess... try `acpi=off` in kernel cmdline....
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> well, ACPI is enabled in the efi, but I'm also loading a dt with grub.
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> I'll try it
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> does the same thing. It recognizes the interface, but refuses to connect with it. only apparently gets an ipv6 address
<DC-IRC> <jkent.net> can you assign an ip and it works okay?
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> I *can* assign a static ipv4 address, and ifconfig shows it, but it Still can't connect to anything
<DC-IRC> <jkent.net> does r8125 require firmware? also i see that it says NO-CARRIER -- that needs to be resolved
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> hmm. reverting to my previous kernel which did work didn't change anything. I am going to try Jriek's Ubuntu now. if that doesn't work, I can probably conclude that my hardware is borked
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> I think it's broken 🫠
<DC-IRC> <infinity_q> nope, ethernet port on my router is broken
<DC-IRC> <jkent.net> sorry for running off.. was going to say, you could try a loopback between the two ethernet ports on the device
