<DC-IRC> <stvhay> I hope this is an OK question in here--as some of you know, I work on Batocera Linux and support rk3588 builds using the vendor kernel and mali blob for GPU. I have the rock-5b and indiedroid-nova working very well, but somehow the same kernel gives me problems with GPU acceleration on the orangepi-5. I am using the same DTS as is in the armbian repository as well as most of the armbian patches. Any advice on where I might look for the
<DC-IRC> <amazingfate> What kind of issue? Armbian is using one kernel repo for rk3588 legacy: https://github.com/armbian/linux-rockchip
<DC-IRC> <amazingfate> Gpu should work fine on opi5.
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> @amazingfate I've not been able to find any logs, but in kodi the screen savers are slower as if they are not using the GPU, and then the emulators themselves are locking up on load, requiring a kill -9 signal. I agree, it should work fine. Its very strange that its just this board--the rootfs are virtually identical.
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> (and yep that's the kernel repo im comparing the dts to)
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> is there anything unique about the opi5 i might be missing? I'm a bit stumped.
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> My kernel I think may be closer to 3.6 than the armbian kernel? Weren't you still baselined to 3.4? Could there be a .dts incompatibility introduced there? (Grasping at straws here)
<DC-IRC> <amazingfate> Armbian's branch is based on rkr3.6.
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> ok yeah then we should be very similar indeed
<DC-IRC> <amazingfate> You can try an armbian image to see if that's a hardware related issue.
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> yeah.. I can try the official image and then maybe one slightly modified with my kernel as another place to investigate
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> thanks for the suggestions.
<DC-IRC> <selimrecep> official image or armbian image?
<DC-IRC> <stvhay> Thanks I’ll download it when I get home
