<amazingfate> So that is not a kernel related issue?
<Armbian-Discord>
<el scorpio | qu454|2> I just realised that my dockers stopped working a few days ago, presumingly after i ran update/upgrade
<Armbian-Discord>
<el scorpio | qu454|2> Some people in the omv forum report similar issues, occring recently
<Armbian-Discord>
<el scorpio | qu454|2> I dont have a computer at home at and can only access my omv server via mobile app, so i will try to fix this in a few days when i get access to a laptop... Just wanted to share rhe info in case someone runs into similar issues or want to skip the update until things are sorted out
<Armbian-Discord>
<EfeCTN> Probably
<Armbian-Discord>
<Mz3D> Just as information, do you guys plan to develop a Rock 5A image?
<Armbian-Discord>
<amazingfate> @EfeCTN on rock5b when I connect to a monitor with no sound output I can't see hdmi sink in pulseaudio, but when I connect to a monitor with sound output I can see the hdmi sound sink, and it works.
<Armbian-Discord>
<EfeCTN> It may be related to my config. I'll build new image with new kernel to try it
<Armbian-Discord>
<danielktdoranie> So I installed Armbian on my PineBook Pro last night, the Gnome version. I am really impressed! During set up it immediately detected my 5 GHz Wi-Fi access point and allowed me to connect, no other distro has allowed me to even "see" it. I didn't even know the PineBook Pro could do 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Armbian runs super fast although it is on an SD card (as opposed to the eMMC or NVME).
<Armbian-Discord>
<Werner> Then it will probably run even faster on eMMC or nVME 😉

<H2O> I still couldn't fix it from nvme with armbian (I didn't try another system).
<Armbian-Discord>
<H2O> my source is that of radxa of 30w. Could that be what is failing?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @H2O how are you "trying" to boot from NVMe? if you still have other media in the unit with an OS on it if you don't have something like TowBoot installed it will not boot the NVMe (due to boot order)
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> The u-boot is the spi is not setup to boot nvme on it
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> (by defaukt first)
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> That power supply in theory though should be enough to boot it I would think (Although I can't speak to it personally because I use a 65W one)
<Armbian-Discord>
<H2O> in the radxa guide they offer 3 options. I apply the Armbian faith. still haven't tried towboot
<Armbian-Discord>
<H2O> thank you. It helps me to outline the path to follow, instead of continuing to try something that is not going to work
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> radxa's guide doesn't apply to the pinebook pro... that's for Radxa devices
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> not Pine64 ones
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Thats for the Rock5 for example
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Similar... but enough of a different procedure it matters
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> PBP can only charge at like 15W anyway so 30W supply shouldn't be a problem
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @lanefu for power on it matters
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> the device startup it does have a hit to the bus
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I've seen it happen
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> Well what about running on battery
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> After it boots its fine.. its the initial start it has a hiccup
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> (Reboots are worse)
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> Sounds like I should continue not to bother to put an nvme in mine then
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> The speed diff is massive though
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> I saw 1 person use that pcie to put in a better wifi card. Which is by far it's weakness
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> its worth having to start it twice once in a while
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I have a usb3 802.11AX wifi on mine
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> figured that was s good USB use for mine
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Got that same one on my Rock5's and now my Risc-V as well
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> lol
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> Did nvme have much of an impact on browser experience?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> For me yes
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> What about battery life for you?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> unfortunately yes there too... in the other direction lol
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> nvme's do drain a lot more
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> but I use mine connected up to a power supply a lot too so I am not too concerned on that front
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> (or a 20A battery pack that I carry)
<Armbian-Discord>
<H2O> What are you saying is that I have to remove the sd card from the device for it to boot?
<Armbian-Discord>
<danielktdoranie> Yeah I might install Armbian on the eMMC. I have Kali on my NVME and it's gonna stay there.
<Armbian-Discord>
<H2O> because I think I did.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Someone in here was working on Armbian's method specificly yesteday. @MicroLinux (Salva) how did you end up finally getting it working on your PBP with Armbian?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @H2O I run a custom OS on mine so my installation is a bit different than most
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> MicroLinux (Salva) was discussing setting it up on one yesterday though
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> it uses some intel vmd odd driver
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I see lots of hits on this one
<Armbian-Discord>
<H2O> Is working in rockpi 4

<MicroLinux (Salva)> I am working from sd, it does work out of the box. But my emmc has problems. After rethink the situation it must not be dead, but somehow is not accessible at all. So I will disassemble the PBP later on to see what the fuck happened with it.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> bummer...
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> It sounds like u-boot to me
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Yep, I mean, even if I want to use uart I have to do so...
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Mine is working great but I am using the one c0rnelius and I built
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Maybe if I try a safe uboot then.. but towbot, latest one... still is unable to mount the emmc
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> For what I need to test, I am okay
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> I am going to test gamescope
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> I just requested the ppa maintainer for gamescope to add arm64
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> but you are using armbian build right? I think we use a diff u-boot build/version
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Since compiling it.. it's a bit rough
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> I am utilizing latest armbian release from the armbian website
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> In our (c0rnelius and my) builder
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> yeah.. I think our setup is a fair bit different
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> My emmc had an older uboot with armbian focal.. and focal is deprecated
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Have you tried Debian or you only using Ubuntu on the PBP?
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Maybe there was a severe regression, who knows. But afaik playmouth worked (emmc system!) And then it just go straight to busybox and initframs
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> I am talking about my emmc
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> So, it must not be dead
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Initframs says it failed to mount a partition
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> The root one most probably
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> well... remember there's an spi on there too
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> So, that's the case
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> so unless you can verify that uuid is your emmc it may still not be booting everything in the "expected" manner
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Okay, if you have a working image that's proven to work from emmc, I will use it just to write uboot
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> On the spi
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Just a sec.. I think we do
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Performance wise, I am impressed how gnome works from sd (24MB/s)
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> loosks like the only one we kept prebuilt was a usb boot
