<Taki Udon> @monkaBlyat Hey, any chance you could split your R58 Mini image into parts and upload them? The 5GB file is impossible to download over VPN for me.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @Taki Udon is it compressed at all?
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> i can do a gdrive mirror if that help
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> It might help
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> I've gotten close to finishing the download 2 times
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @monkaBlyat that got the kitchen sink and the pantry in it?
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> ok will DM you the link later
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> Do you have the R58 Mini?
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> multiarch with box86/64 and wine that need some space
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> yes
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> Did they give you the kernel source?
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> no only dts sources
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> Ah
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> kernel is radxa kernel and radxa u-boot
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> Anything broken on the board?
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> bt is not working everything else was working
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> It's a good board, but their last Ubuntu image is trash.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Can't convince myself to buy anymore ARM atm... working on RISC-V atm
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> Do you need their kernel source to make the driver work?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> You minimally need the kernel build headers/source
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> no think just blacklisting some modules will work,wifi is working so the drivers are loaded
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @monkaBlyat if you don't have the drivers built you will
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Which bt driver does the MT board use?
<Armbian-Discord>
<monkaBlyat> ap6275p
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> oh joy
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> more ap/cypress fun
<Armbian-Discord>
<Taki Udon> I can try to see if they will give me the source
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> what's the appeal to you to justify the pivot?
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> less old bad code?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I always wanted to start on RISC-V.. was just waiting for realistic useful equipment availability... ARM has semi-stagnated atm due to some of the IP restrictions
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I'm having a lot of fun learning the nuances of the assembly/structural differences too
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> makes sense, although I'm skeptical of risc-v not running into the same exact IP restrictions as ARM for full-blown 64bit linux use cases
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> By its licensing it can't
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> People would run into major legal issues with it if they tried because of how it has come into existence.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I don't know the whole licensing/ramifications however it does seem much likelier to be better on a wider use for software development even with different hardware deployments.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> bbialw..lunchtime
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> The IP problem is with DRM and acceleration stuff not ISA Risc-v will have the same problem
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> PowerVR did some token opensourcing for adoption but I'm skeptical of it continuing
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> True indeed.. "I" personally am looking at these SBC's for non-graphical usage so that part of the IP doesn't affect me
