azonenberg changed the topic of ##openfpga to: Open source tools for FPGAs, CPLDs, etc. Silicon RE, bitfile RE, synthesis, place-and-route, and JTAG are all on topic. Channel logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/~h~openfpga

> Renesas Enters FPGA Market with the First Ultra-Low-Power, Low-Cost Family Addressing Low-Density, High-Volume Applications
<cyrozap>
If this sounds familiar, it's probably because these devices are likely just "bigger GreenPAKs":
<cyrozap>
> The ForgeFPGA Family development team is the same group that introduced the highly successful GreenPAK™ programmable mixed-signal devices at Silego Technology, which came into the Renesas portfolio as part of the recently completed Dialog Semiconductor acquisition.

the greenpaks were a very unique star/crossbar routing fabric, more reminiscent of CPLDs
<azonenberg>
you're never going to make a 1K LUT chip like that
<azonenberg>
they're almost certainly more conventional 2D fabric FPGAs

<gatecat>
yeah nothing to do with the GP4 arch afaik, they've licenses the FPGA fabric from FlexLogix
<gatecat>
the logic tile is very similar to Xilinx 7-series from the brief play with their software that I've had
<hackkitten>
heh, still have some GreenPAKs lying around
<hackkitten>
interesting to see it still being developed in some way :)
