Hi, if I look at meta-xilinx the layers are sublayers meaning if I clone it and then try to add to my poky it says no local.conf found as it consists of sublayers. How then should sublayers be used (e.g. raspberrypi doesn't have this)?

<Bhstalel>
You cannot add layers container to bblayers.conf as it has no layer.conf, you just need to specify what sublayer you want to use
<ptsneves>
__ad: You can provide a mirror and blacklist the original SRC_URI, or you can just SRC_URI:remove = "the uri you want to overwrite" and add SRC_URI:append = " the new uri"
<ptsneves>
i use the second approach often

I think regarding the :remove option, an idea can be integrated which is: Remove whatever starts with the given pattern
<Bhstalel>
Example: SRC_URI:remove = "git://xyz.abc" => Remove the entry that starts with that, cuz you sometimes need to specify all the line to remove it and it can be hard especially when the entry has parameters like subdir, protocol, ...

The npmsw fetcher does not support private repositories (i.e. usually OAuth authentication). Looking at semi-recent threads on the ML, this kind of issue falls in the larger domain of language-specific package managers, for which desire for a shared solution seems to generate consensus.

In the mean time, is there a preferred "escape hatch"? I'm considering adding a custom task to my node.js app recipe to circumvent the no-network rule, bt I was hoping there would be a better way.
<rburton>
you don't need a custom task, just unblock the network with do_compile[network] = "1"

Our build systems use docker for everything. We're trying to run testimage inside of docker, but keep running into problems setting up the tun/tap without adding priveleged to the container (which isn't allowed by our IT for automated processes). We've tried adding --cap-add=NET_ADMIN but still can't seem to generate the tap devices... Anyone else doing somethign similar and having it work?
<rburton>
fray: we just do TEST_RUNQEMUPARAMS = "slirp" which sort of sidesteps the problem
<fray>
Does that work? last time i tried it I got pages of errors
<fray>
I use slirp normally, but I thought we needed tap devices so the OE tests could ssh INTO the qemu session
zpfvo has joined #yocto

fray: we're doing testimage in our container builds so contact Konrad if you want to know about our config. I don't think we use slirp.
<fray>
Our stuff can't boot directly to Linux, so the kernel command line isn't manually specified. That might be the difference?
<rburton>
maybe
