It was. Power was out most of the week and I was working thanks to a generator.
<paulg>
over here in Ottawa where i "normally" live, I also had to dig a melt trench in early march so melt water had a place to go. No place for new snow.
<mason>
Ah, parts of Ottowa are south of here, although a good bunch of it is north. New Hampshire.
<paulg>
With Covid, I was splitting my 2020-2022 time between snow-belt Huntsville and Ottawa (4h east, like 90/10 split) in order to deal with the demands of the situation.

I am sure lots of people here know exactly what that was like.
<paulg>
elderly parents and all that.
<mason>
I was lucky enough to stay put.
<paulg>
I had some stuff to deal with, but I am sure every one of us here had it easier than a person in a restaurant on minimum wage.
<mason>
I was left feeling like the people working the grocery store were heroic.
<paulg>
They were.

Stupid turd was so heavy... One of the handles was broke off - I had to weld it back on just to get it out the door.
<paulg>
...but it was free from an old school friend, so of course I had to fix it.
<paulg>
fixed like 5 mountain bikes from the caved in shed and gave them away to neighbourhood kids. If you've not done that - go do it. Best feeling ever.

and credit to my childhood friend who opened the door to do that.

Hello everyone. I'm struggling a bit with failing post-install scriptlet for a recipe. I have two skeleton applications (basic C++ CMake projects that connects to D-Bus) which both install a systemd-service. Lets call them A and B. A was compiling/installing just fine, but when I created recipe B by copying A and replacing name A with B everywhere,
<iceaway>
recipe B fails during the do_rootfs task for the image with this error: ERROR: do_rootfs: Postinstall scriptlets of ['xxx'] have failed. If the intention is to defer them to first boot, then please place them into pkg_postinst_ontarget_${PN} (). Deferring to first boot via 'exit 1' is no longer supported.
<iceaway>
I have been troubleshooting this for a couple of days now and completely run out of ideas.
<iceaway>
By looking at the actual postinst-script it would appear that one of the systemctl-commands fail, but I have no idea how to go any further with that.

Hi, i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but is there a way to list supported machines for poky/local.conf. It says to check meta/conf/machine but I only see qemu targets. I probably want a generic arm64 build for the cortex-a72

rich1234: physical machine support depands on the layers you add to the system
<mckoan>
rich1234: generally speaking MACHINE means a real hardware config
<rich1234>
I see thanks, I am trying to get setup on a TI chip and part of their SDK provides some yocto sample files but from what I see they only list their machine as arago. But thanks I will take a look

frieder has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<rich1234>
Yeah, hence I was confused. But thanks that is more what I was looking for
<rburton>
rich1234: if its a TI board then you want meta-ti, presumably. meta-arm has a generic-arm64 machine but that assumes you have systemready firmware, which you may not.
<rich1234>
Ok right, I wanted to test a minimal build for a specific chip but it makes sense I have to add the layer first now
tnovotny has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<rich1234>
the ti-layer*
<rburton>
rich1234: if you want to just build some arm code, qemuarm is sufficient. if you want to run something on the target, you need to know what bootloader, what kernel, etc, so you need to use the right bsp.
<paulg>
grew up doing that sort of crap. Not so sure I want to be still doing it now.
<paulg>
but because I'm old and cheap, I'd probably still go climb up and do the same fix today...
