Tartarus: For 'XPL' I think the need to tidy this up is becoming more urgent. We have the runtime issue that EFI is raising, now

sjg1: Re series 341504? My recollection was that it was going in the wrong direction and make things harder, not easier.

Lets get bootstd over the finish line and get CMLINE=n useful before we decide to pick up yet another big change
Clamor has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds]

Tartarus: OK...I have sent out new versions of the CMDLINE=n series (there are three left: D, E and F)
<sjg1>
Tartarus: For bootstd, what is needed, or is that the same thing?
Clamor has joined #u-boot
<Tartarus>
Well, making bootstd more useful without full being set, as I mentioned in that patch the other week
<Tartarus>
Figuring out what's needed so that most platforms and most distros Just Work
<sjg1>
Tartarus: Yes, perhaps I should file an issue for that (or you could?)
<sjg1>
Tartarus: Re 'just work' the kernel FIT thing seems blocked on an ack from Masahiro...might be a tall ask

What?
<Tartarus>
That doesn't tie in at all in my mind to making bootstd Jsut Work, that involves talking with pbrobinson and vagrant and perhaps some SuSE/Armbian/etc people (and there's probably enough also-OE people here that we can cover that case) so that you can just grab a board and a commodity distro and it Just Works, as expected.
<pbrobinson>
Tartarus: can you provide a bit more context?
<Tartarus>
pbrobinson: What would you like to see from "bootstd" such that Fedora would be happy and a hypothetical rk3399 platform that comes out tomorrow Just Works for the end user, as much as U-Boot can/can't help with that
<pbrobinson>
I'm not sure what bootstd full provides over bootstd, it looks to me like a few minor bits could be moved to bootstd (I think like a list) and that would be enough for most use cases
<sjg1>
Tartarus: Did you see my proposal for FIT extensions? Also I sent an email to the TI people, but didn't get any feeback yet...unless I missed it?

sjg1: I saw but didn't have any comment, and I assume TI folks are possibly just out due to holidays
