<_whitenotifier-9> [scopehal] azonenberg 2007c4e - Tweaked thresholds for 100baseTX decode
<_whitenotifier-9> [scopehal] azonenberg 5043569 - Initial work on LeCroyFWPOscilloscope driver
<d1b2> <Darius> mmm firehose
<d1b2> <Darius> bit ridiculous that is pegging the CPU though
<azonenberg> darius: that's MAUI saturating the cpu not my bridge
<d1b2> <Darius> MAUI?
<azonenberg> the lecroy GUI
<azonenberg> my bridge code is using almost nothing
<azonenberg> but yes, the lecroy firmware i'm sure can be faster
<d1b2> <Darius> ahh
<d1b2> <Darius> that's good then
<d1b2> <Darius> you need headless mode 😉
<azonenberg> This preliminary proof of concept *doubled* throughput vs SCPI for the same # of channels and memory depth
<azonenberg> that's already a win
<d1b2> <Darius> maybe YOU can sell THEM some upgrades 8-)
<d1b2> <Darius> very nice
<azonenberg> lol
<azonenberg> Oh i'm trying
<azonenberg> I had a very nice sit down with the head of the MAUI team in october for a good two hours
<d1b2> <Darius> cool
<azonenberg> he was very interested in our history feature lol
<azonenberg> the labeled, pinned, navigable history is miles better than what they have
<azonenberg> anyway this PoC needs some cleanup and tweaking
<d1b2> <Darius> nice
<azonenberg> you have to instantiate the FastWavePort blocks in the gui yourself
<azonenberg> it doesnt send the automation commands to do that for oyu
<azonenberg> you*
<azonenberg> it hardcodes four channels enabled in a lot of places
<azonenberg> And it doesn't gracefully degrade if you request a memory depth of >40M points
<azonenberg> (tl;dr the older FastWavePort API has a 40M point hardcoded limit in the firmware, the new FastMultiWavePort has no limit but I haven't been able to get working yet)
<azonenberg> the only documentation for FMWP is a couple of visual studio 2008 projects that dont even compile under 64 bit windows
<azonenberg> and a PDF dated march 2007 and labeled "preliminary"
<azonenberg> which I *know* is out of date because it contradicts the current XDEV option documentation in a few spots
<d1b2> <Darius> yeah I saw your masto post on iyt
<d1b2> <Darius> I guess it doesn't get a lot of use 😕
<azonenberg> yeah lol
<azonenberg> I may or may not put the time forth to do that in the future, it will likely take some bakc and forth with their support team
<azonenberg> right now i want to polish up the FWP based version
<azonenberg> and probably just make it gracefully degrade to using SCPI for download of >40M point waveforms

<azonenberg> lecroy is selling a used D420-A-PS 4 GHz active differential probe for only $1100. There is a gotcha though
<azonenberg> from the photos, it looks like it comes with the 'quick connect' solder in tip (uses fairly large axial lead resistors, not like the nicer solder in tip that uses the HMLs) and the handheld browser head
<azonenberg> but not the 'square pin' tip (for 0.1" headers) or the 'solder in' tip that uses HMLs
<azonenberg> if you were mostly interested in using it handheld, though, this is an excellent value. and even if you were to buy a new Dx20-SI tip for like $900, it'd still be way cheaper than the $8K MSRP of a new unit
