am rewriting the recommended applications section in my river setup article. Does anyone know a good image viewer? imv kinda sucks and I don't want to recomend it
<leon-p>
(after viewing imv's codebase I had motivation to make it suck less)

I just use mpv with a bunch of scripts. It's a bit of an overkill solution, but I really like the scriptability

<Guest35>
Hey any people here?
<Guest35>
I just got me a Framework 13, but its resolution forces me to use fractional scaling. Is that possible when using River? Or is that smth configured elsewhere?
<Guest35>
(I'm relatively new to window managers, pls don't hurt me haha)
<leon-p>
Guest35: yes, fractional scaling is possible
<leon-p>
you'll need kanshi or wlr-randr to configure it
<leon-p>
but note that fractional scaling /sometimes/ looks terrible, so you may just want to increase the fontsize instead
<Guest35>
Wouldn't that make it look weird when the rest of the UI doesn't scale with it?
<leon-p>
depends on what software you use 🤷
<Guest35>
By the way, if I (theoretically) were to stick with applications that support wayland, I shouldn't have blurry apps?
<leon-p>
either way, things are improving, just slowly
<Guest35>
XWayland scales in a blurry way, right
<leon-p>
Guest35: mostly no blurry apps, no. They get rendered at a higher integer scale and then downscaled for now. There is a precise scale protocol thing, but nothing uses it yet I think
<leon-p>
fractional scaling with XWayland likely is blurry right now, but AFAIK that will also improve in the future
<Guest35>
Looking forward to Gnome and KDE pushing Wayland adaption along next year
<Guest35>
adoption*
<Guest35>
On another note, is River stable enough to daily?
<leon-p>
yes, totally
<leon-p>
has been for ages
<leon-p>
we have a few bugs, but crashes aren't common
<Guest35>
As is expected with version numbers <1
<Guest35>
Alright I'll give it a shot I think
<Guest35>
Oh btw, is there a significant power usage increase when using Wayland fractional scaling?
