<Guest4364> hello
<Guest4364> I just installed river on arch Linux and now Firefox and gtk apps aren't working correctly
<Guest4364> then don't appear open yet I can still click on menus and view some popups that aren't part of the main window
<Guest4364> ony idea what is causing this
<Guest4364> any*
<Guest4364> I tried a different Wayland compositor and the apps work as intended, so I believe the problem is related to river

<janq0> Thanks for responding NickH, I'm sorry that I couldn
<janq0> *'t get back to you earlier. Do I understand correctly that there's no way of knowing the active keyboard layout at the moment?

<angry_vincent> in example config i see capital letters, are they supposed to be used or normal letters are ok? that is E, H, J, K, L
<vyivel> i'm going to blindly assume that 1) you're talking about keybinds and 2) river parses those with "case insensitive" flag
<angry_vincent> ok, good
<angry_vincent> is there layout, where instances of application are behind each other? i.e if i spawn 3 instances of terminal emulator, but each would be in stack behind, and not side by side. not sure how to explain it more clearly

<angry_vincent> when reserving tags for scratchpad ( above default 9 ) sending application to scratchpad, what tag will it occupy?

<novakane> angry_vincent: you can make that with rivercarro, it's called the monocle layout in it, and in staktile too iirc
<angry_vincent> oh, i see
<novakane> there is 32 tags in river all the time so depends what you chose
<angry_vincent> if i choose ((1 >> 20)) for example
<novakane> tag 20, it's 1 << 20 though
<angry_vincent> i am following this: https://github.com/riverwm/river/wiki/Scratchpad-and-Sticky and trying to understand
<novakane> just give a name to the tag like in the example from the wiki and you don't need to care about the number
<angry_vincent> not sure i fully understan how to set name
<angry_vincent> wiki has tagmask
<novakane> it's a variable instead of a name my bad but in the wiki it's scratch_tag
<novakane> and then the keybinds use the variable name
<angry_vincent> if possible, can you give example?
<novakane> example of what? I'm talking about how it is done in the wiki
<angry_vincent> so, instead of scratch_tag i could name it mytag ( whatever name ) to sent application to mytag
<angry_vincent> to not use numbers
<novakane> yep
<angry_vincent> ok, now i understand

<angry_vincent> possible to have multiple scratch tags? if i want to send more than one application there?
boombim_ has joined #river
<angry_vincent> what is sticky tag?
<novakane> you can send multiple apps there already, it's just works like a regular tags, but yeah you can have multiple scratchpad if you want
<novakane> no idea, never used it
