<tankf33der> abu[m]: i asked Nikita (author llvm in 2022 year) about “opt -opaque-pointers” switch in CLI. There is his reply:
<tankf33der> I expect that "opt -opaque-pointers" will stop working in LLVM 17, because opaque pointers will always be enabled, so the option will go away. You'd get the same behavior using just "opt" at that point.
<aw-> Hi all, I archived https://github.com/picolisp/picolisp so it is now 'read-only' on GitHub
<abu[m]> tankf33der: Thank! So it is as I suspected :(
<abu[m]> aw-: Cool, thanks!
<tankf33der> abu[m]: i can read reply as opt will convert types anyway.
<abu[m]> You mean because of "you will get the same behavior"?
<tankf33der> Aha.
<abu[m]> Not sure. "opaque pointers will always be enabled"
<abu[m]> The question is if opt can still handle typed pointers
<tankf33der> handle or convert?
<abu[m]> both
<abu[m]> read typed pointers in IR
<abu[m]> then convert to .bc
