<geist> hmm, that's interseting. trying to bring up the ahci driver on qemu-virt for arm and it shows the ports are ctive but no existing signature
<geist> i wonder if the reason they had an existing sig x86 is because a bios did it
<geist> gog: yah that range thing is very nice. i've used it before and i think it's simply worth the trouble of using ane xtension like that
<gog> more fun than case 1: case 2: case 3: etc

<geist> i think i remember looking at for the most part most compilers support it. i thingk even MSVC does
<gog> part of me cringes at changing my -std from c11 to gnu11 though idk why
<gog> wonder if i can enable it selectively

<klange> i need to find one of my spare microsd cards so I can start working on this rpi bringup... I swear I had a 4GB one that would be perfect... but my office is such a mess

<klange> Couple of hiccups along the way, but aarch64 branch is merged and I have CI builds set up for both targets.
<klange> Also found a regression in x86-64 that happened with CoW support that I just hadn't noticed before: no segfaults, missed a return value from the cow handler and instead of a segfault it would just keep faulting back to the kernel and then resuming the same instructions
<klange> (I was trying to test the debugger)
<klange> x86-64 builds look fine, played some games, tested some thread demos (I changed my TLS allocation method to "after thread pointer"), poked the debugger
<klange> aarch64 builds produce an archive with kernel, bootstub, ramdisk.igz and I tested one of those as well.
<klange> Still some cleanup to do, and still some missing functionality on ARM, but I think it's ready to not need a separate branch.

<geist> oh hrm. i was buttoning up this PCI support and getitng it to work on riscv virt machine to only discover that MSI is simply unsuppported there right now
<geist> annoying
<gog> ope
<gog> guess you're ahead of the vm developers then
<geist> but got MSI working on gicv2 at least. works like a champ on arm at least
<gog> nice
<zid> I don't know what gic means so I am just going to pretend it means gimballed interrupt controller

<kazinsal> RIP neil
<j`ey> zid: garlic is cheap
<zid> But what about the vectored thrust
* kingoffrance ♬ he who controls the spice controls the universe </ancient dune module file, ms-ihtb.zip > ♬
<gog> it is by will alone i set my mind in motion
<kazinsal> will *and* cannabis
<zid> fear is the brine piller, my dictionary alone is the little-pet that brings total onionation
<kazinsal> mind ain't movin until I got that loud
* gog passes the blunt to kazinsal
* kazinsal takes a hit and passes it back
<kazinsal> should go do that right now actually, offset the cheap wine
<zid> weed people :(
<gog> better than gettin drunk imo
<zid> alcoholism also isn't a personality
<kazinsal> yeah generally I like the fact that worst case you just wait it out a couple hours and you're back to normal
<kazinsal> no need to go to bed and skip eight hours for it to be over
* moon-child pours himself a glass of wine, topical
<gog> transdermal wine administration?
<kazinsal> plus so long as you're not in fuckin space from pulling a good ol' fashioned "this edible ain't shit" you can just power through it most of the time so long as you don't need reflexes
<gog> it's the muscle spasms that get me tho
<gog> and the tachycardia
<gog> so i try not to overdo it
<gog> too many anxious things happening simultaneously
