Hi folks. I'd really like to have module literals and object support. Are the patch sets more or less ready to try out, or am I likely to encounter major issues with them?

LinuxHackerman not sure what you want to hear .. it is a nightly build and these are probably experimental
<J22>
if you finde problems - please report them so they can be fixed

LinuxHackerman: this specific module literal PR is not recommended
<LinuxHackerman>
ah, good to know. I also noticed that the patches are incompatible, and I want objects more badly.
<teepee>
for what specifically? there's a tiny part you can already use :)
<teepee>
you can't yet define objects via script in the nightly but textmetrics() and json-import already create the data structures
<LinuxHackerman>
Oh really? Nice. I do want to define objects inline though and have no problems building from source
<teepee>
right, then this object PR is probably the best bet for now
<LinuxHackerman>
It looks like my distro's openscad package will need some love for the next release at the latest anyway
<teepee>
I guess we need to check again if there's a good path to get the data only part in soon-ish
<teepee>
the more tricky part is handling the geometry along, but even without it would be a huge useful feature
<teepee>
which distro is that?

nixpkgs
<LinuxHackerman>
we're currently still building with qmake, but I've ported it over to cmake now, not sure whether to PR that adding an "unstable" version or wait for the release

unfortunately no timeline for a release. I would *wish* to have one in January, but chances of that are about 0.421%
