<darrenldl> use MIT/BSD until someone complains
<d_bot>
<darrenldl> : v
<williewillus>
that's fine for standalone stuff but if you pull in libraries you have to be aware of their licenses
<williewillus>
esp gpl/lgpl stuff

I am trying to build a binary that uses ctypes-generated bindings for libmnl, and I'm getting this error:
<sleepydog>
ld: mnl/libmnl__c_cout_generated_functions__c_stub__libmnl.o: relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against undefined symbol `Caml_state' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
<sleepydog>
does anyone know what that means? I tried adding the fPIC flag but it didn't seem to make a difference
<d_bot>
<Patate> sleepydog You shouldn't have to write any C in order to use a C library...

Patate: the diff is of the C that ctypes generates. I didn't write it. I just switched from using the ignore_errno policy to return_errno

<VPhantom> My experience with those `-fPIC` suggestions was that you need to look for entirely different issues to make it go away.

following a recent upgrade of my system, I've been getting warnings such as `lto-wrapper: warning: using serial compilation of 4 LTRANS jobs` and `lto-wrapper: note: see the ‘-flto’ option documentation for more information` when linking programs with ocaml, does anyone else experience this ?

You functional people also do behavioural interviews?
<olle>
Or it's just assumed everyone who knows FP knows how to behave? :D
<d_bot>
<mk-fg> Presumably FP folks are pure wrt side-effects and interactions with the outside world - you just pass them a task and they return result, what else can you possibly want
