george___: the issue you were having with Armadillo was tracked down further; it was specific to Armadillo 4.550.0 and 4.550.1 using gcc 4.4.x

you can use the just-released Armadillo 4.550.2 and that will work, or, an older Armadillo (4.500.x or older) will also work

Hi, interesting thanks, that might solve my issues. I managed to get a hacky solution working on my cluster using an ancient armadillo and matlab's kd tree (which requires me to quadruple my data)

but this would be much better (I am writing mex files for interoperability with the rest of my team's code)
