<warpme> guys: i'm developing dts for nanopi-6m. It has the same analog audio chip like nanopc-t6 (realtek,rt5616). But reuse dt code from nanopc-t6 resulting on nanopi-m6 with: platform sound: deferred probe pending: asoc-simple-card: parse error. I'm reading this as dt parse error. nanopi-m6 dts i'm developing is like this: https://gist.github.com/warpme/77d5ae38293de689db9e911c029db9a1 Assuming nanopc-t6 dt code is ok - how it can return
<warpme> on nanopi-m6 such error?
erg_ has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<qschulz> warpme: if it was a DT parse error, dtc would compile at build time?
<qschulz> did you check you enabled the proper driver for all components of the audio stack involved there?
<qschulz> i2s controller and codec driver?
<hrw> warpme: 6.11-rc3 on nanopc-t6-lts gives the same error

raster has quit [Quit: Gettin' stinky!]
<warpme> qschulz : ok got it loading and reporting audio card (indeed audio codec was missing :-p) . Now i can loop onboard mic to speaker and hear sounds from mic. however can't get any audio from i2s0 (media player). tried all alsamixer settings. so far....silence
<qschulz> warpme: i haven't looked deeply into it, but the 5min I spent on i2s upstream last time, the driver and DT for RK3588 weren't proper
<qschulz> warpme: though IIRC Heiko had some sort of support working on RK3588
<warpme> well - on mine orangepi5pro with es8388 plays nicelly....
<hrw> mmind00: I see that you go through linux-rockchip ML. any opinions on nanopc-t6 patchset?
<mmind00> hrw: I'm pondering diederik 's comment ;-) ... and the dts -> dtsi patch is hard to read ... I need to find the command dsimic used on the base/extra rename so I can apply and export that patch to check for differences
warpme has quit [Quit: My MacBook has gone to sleep. ZZZzzz…]
<diederik> (sorry)
<mmind00> diederik: not sorry ... you were on the right track ;-)
Stat_headcrabed has quit [Quit: Stat_headcrabed]
<diederik> "As a side note, due to the nature of introduced changes, this commit is best viewed using the --break-rewrites option for git-log(1)" is a comment? But it is about viewing the diff ...
<diederik> The 'sorry' was actually towards hrw ;)
<mmind00> diederik: yes ... but sadly applying and re-exporting with that option did not improve readability
<diederik> If the command that was used to *generate* the diff was posted on the ML, my guess is that it's around the "arm64: dts: rockchip: Prepare RK3588 SoC dtsi files for per-variant OPPs" patch set
<diederik> But so far I haven't been able to find it
<diederik> I had found the exact mail, I just didn't read through to the Notes section
<diederik> "Drastically reduced the size of the diff, using --break-rewrites as an option for git-diff(1) and git-format-patch(1), [5] while also adding a hopefully useful related note to the patch description"
<diederik> now everyone has it in their IRC logs ;-)
<diederik> Context/explainer: Debian Trixie will (likely) have the next LTS kernel, which is probably 6.12 and thus the window for that was closing (fast)
