<dieselnutjob> macromorgan: Hi it's Philip here. Do you have DSI output working on the Anbernic RK3566 devices with the latest 6.1-RC2 kernel?

<macromorgan> yes

<dieselnutjob> I have my own gitlab repo which reproduces how I got DSI working on the quartz64-a, based on your advice (thank you for it). Please can you take at look at my dsi enablement patch and tell me if it is the same as what you are using? It's here https://gitlab.com/dieselnutjob/linux-quartz-64-a/-/commit/f4c651e9bb07aaf9247cc1694fa940c22bdef9be
<dieselnutjob> I need to update it so that it works without clock reverts, basically, I need to catch up with your latest method.
<macromorgan> mainline has the DSI enablement patches (plus a couple of fixes I missed) in 6.1 right now, but this looks good.
<macromorgan> make sure you check what PLL_VPLL rate you have with the clock changes rolled back... set your PLL_VPLL to that rate instead of experimenting to find the best one when you undo the clock rollback
<macromorgan> I had to experiment because downstream several people asked me to support different refresh rates, which got interesting
<dieselnutjob> I am going to play back my understanding from what you just said: 1. with 6.1 I don't need the DSI-enablement-series because it already has it. 2. with quartz64-a and the Pine 7" screen we don't need init_sequence_support because that panel doesn't need it 3. That means that the only thing needed for a quartz64-a and Pin 7" screen is a stock Torvalds 6.1 kernel plus correctly written dts file for the PLL_VPLL rate.
<dieselnutjob> Have I understood correctly?
<macromorgan> 2 I don't know...
<macromorgan> 1 is correct, so long as your devicetree enables the necessary hardware and the panel is supported
<macromorgan> assuming 1 and 2 the panel should work, albeit shifted. Once you set the correct PLL_VPLL rate the image should correct itself
<dieselnutjob> time to give a try then I guess..... thanks
<dieselnutjob> Did any of the names of items in the dts file change from 6.0 to 6.1 ?
<dieselnutjob> Also, do the Anbernic dts files that are provided in mainline work (from a MIPI-DSI / LCD screen perspective) out of the box or do they need some tweaking?

<dieselnutjob> micromorgan: please tell me how to set the PLL_VPLL, or if easier just attach a working dts file from your anbernic. I have a working 7" LCD on the quartz64a with 6.1-rc2, but as expected the screen is shifted to the right.
<dieselnutjob> actually, don't worry. I got it fixed :-)
