how to resume from suspend...
<underpantsgnome[>
wens: Rock 3a looks interesting, but can this SOC put out two HDMI 4K@60p ports at once? I'd like that in a board
<macromorgan>
naoki: The power button (I'm using an rk817 based PMIC) is how I wake up out of suspend. When I come out of suspend neither the DSI nor the HDMI work.
<macromorgan>
underpandsgnome[: On the rk3566 you can do 2 simultaneous displays (mirror). On the rk3568 you can do 3 simultaneous displays (2 mirrored, 1 independent).
<underpantsgnome[>
Hmm mirror... that is not useful for me I would like 2 different screens at 4K@60P.... so the rk3568 can do this but not the rk3566?
<naoki>
btw 4K@30p patch doesn't work for my rk3566 board
<specing>
Is there a technical reason why we aren't seeing SO-DIMM slots/support on ARM boards?

underpantsgnome[: Yes, the rk3568 has 2 distinct primary planes whereas the rk3566 only has 1 which can be mirrored.
<macromorgan>
there is a bug that I think is getting fixed in 6.1 where if you try to mirror (use more than 1 video port) on the 3566 it throws a null pointer exception. Also happens on the 3568 if you try to use all 3 video ports.
<Tenkawa>
macromorgan: are there 3568's with more than one video output built in or is this taking the hdmi + pci-e scenario's? or hdmi + mipi + dsi scenario?
<Tenkawa>
I know mine only has an hdmi/mipi+dsi built in so it would need to use a pci-e vid card
<Tenkawa>
that would definitely be a very rough bug till its fixed though
<macromorgan>
hdmi, mipi, dsi
<macromorgan>
I don't know if the HDMI controller supports more than 1 output
<macromorgan>
technically you could use a mipi to hdmi bridge
<Tenkawa>
according to the docs it looks doubtful
<macromorgan>
there's also an lvds output
<Tenkawa>
Odroid's response..
<Tenkawa>
That's good news.
<Tenkawa>
So if my understanding is correct, even though there's a long way to make it work on HK official image, the mainline should work in the near future.
<Tenkawa>
The M1 was designed well for a fileserver... not really for a desktop
<jakllsch>
is that a rockchip board?
<Tenkawa>
That post was from Sep 22 so they know an issue
<Tenkawa>
jakllsch: we were just discussing RK3568
<LinuxHackerman>
What's the deal with the video codec (on rockchip socs in general, but rk3399 in particular)? Are they usable with somewhat-standard software on mainline, or are funny out-of-tree modules or proprietary userspace bits necessary?
<CounterPillow>
decoding works on mainline with open software through v4l2-requests, ffmpeg's support for that isn't upstreamed yet though
<CounterPillow>
kernel and gstreamer are though
<CounterPillow>
encoding is jpeg only at the moment and I don't think anyone is working on this
