<TheCycoONE> hello mmind00 , amstan said you might be interested/a good person to talk to. Since 5.17 I haven't been able to boot linux on my kevin. I did a bisect and it came back with 2b3d047870120bcd46d7cc257d19ff49328fd585. I've been talking a back and forth with filesystem devs on linux-ext4 because my root filesystem is ext4 with -O casefold; but I'm not personally equipped for early boot debugging and the screen doesn't light up / nothing
<TheCycoONE> is saved to the journal. Thread is here: https://marc.info/?l=linux-ext4&m=165386449007607&w=2; an image reproducing the problem (8gb) is https://sealbaker.com/kevin-2b3d04.img.gz
<amstan> macc24: you must have tried stuff newer than 5.17 on your gru devices
<macc24> amstan: well you see, i haven't
<amstan> heh
<macc24> at some point of time i flashed uboot on my kevin and procrastinated making it boot again
<macc24> but i have booted newer kernels on other rk3399 device
<amstan> well, i haven't either, and i was trying to procrastinate getting servo out on my kevin by telling thecycoone to give me a full sd card, but he actually delivered!
<macc24> 5.18-rc3 works for me™
<macc24> amstan: i can plug in serial adapter into my kevin in a literal instant ;D
<macc24> but i can't boot anything on it
<macc24> anyway my brain is fried for today so i can't help, sorry
<amstan> your soldered on uart kevin?
<macc24> yes that time you told me i'm crazy for even attempting it
<macc24> and on my minnie too
<amstan> "<thecycoone> no, I have the equipment but I tried to decap my fridge a month ago and ruined it - I don't trust my solder on this"
<amstan> macc24: you were braver, heh
<macc24> amstan: if not for rk3399 not support pcie gpus i would have desoldered wifi card on my kevin and wired a radeon rx460 into it
<mps> hmm, I could try tomorrow to build 5.18.1 and try on kevin
<TheCycoONE> Based on my bisect it's just my case folding that's the problem
<TheCycoONE> Though that works for upstream devs on their qemu tests
<TheCycoONE> You'd think on finding that I'd try without- but no that's my next test.
<mps> building it, lets see could i boot in 12-15 minutes
<amstan> wow, that was quite the conversation with ted tso
<mps> TheCycoONE: version 5.18.1 boots fine on kevin in my case
<mps> and I don't use case folding
<mps> I don't enabled it
<amstan> Could you enable it for our curiosity?
<amstan> If it's not too much trouble
<mps> amstan: will do tomorrow, I'm preparing for bed now
<mps> and I use f2fs as root FS

<TheCycoONE> This code is common it might affect f2fs as well
<TheCycoONE> Unfortunately it can't be switched with tune2fs
<amstan> 25 min to go!
<amstan> i guess i should start looking for my kevin/bob and my debug tools
<TheCycoONE> Alright. Really hope I didn't botch anything that prevents debug on that.
<amstan> np, you got me pretty far already, heh
<amstan> wow, we're in luck, this bob has ccd working and unlocked
<amstan> thecycoone: do you have an md5sum?
<amstan> thecycoone: heh, i just noticed tomeu's in here too, he was summoned on the thread at some point
<amstan> I have `6dfb284cbea3cbbf9095dec7feb81ade kevin-2b3d04.img.gz`
<amstan> dding now

<amstan> looks like you have a [ 4.556503] Waiting for root device PARTUUID=792dc1ab-8d9a-c742-bd6f-bff95f2d1210/PARTNROFF=1... situation
<amstan> accept my DM for the full log
<amstan> i don't see any signs of the sd card enumerating
<amstan> good enumeration ^
<amstan> first attempt from the sd card ^
<amstan> second attempt from a usb ^
<amstan> `EXT4-fs (sda2): can't mount with superblock charset: utf8-12.1.0 not supported by the kernel. flags: 0x0.`
<amstan> sounds very related to your case fold stuff
<amstan> feel free to CC me (amstan@chromium.org) on your upstream thread
