I did a bisect and it came back with 2b3d047870120bcd46d7cc257d19ff49328fd585. I've been talking a back and forth with filesystem devs on linux-ext4 because my root filesystem is ext4 with -O casefold; but I'm not personally equipped for early boot debugging and the screen doesn't light up / nothing
