<cyph84> hey... i got a question about meson-vdec. I got it running with FFmpeg+MPV. but seeking causes decoding to stall and error out.
<cyph84> any clues on what are my next steps in investigating this?
<chewitt> which codec .. h264, vp9 or hevc?
jernej has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds]
<cyph84> h264
<cyph84> even if I use --vo=null for mpv, i see distorted video frames on my framebuffer. this kinda means that the decoder is writing outside memory buffers it was assigned to write to
<cyph84> seeking causes mpv to show errors:
<cyph84> [ffmpeg/video] h264_v4l2m2m: V4L2 capture poll unexpected timeout: events=0x145
<cyph84> [ffmpeg/video] h264_v4l2m2m: Poll thinks src Q has space; none found
<cyph84> [ffmpeg/video] h264_v4l2m2m: V4L2 capture poll unexpected timeout: events=0x145
<cyph84> [ffmpeg/video] h264_v4l2m2m: Poll thinks src Q has space; none found
<cyph84> [ffmpeg/video] h264_v4l2m2m: V4L2 capture poll unexpected timeout: events=0x145
<cyph84> [ffmpeg/video] h264_v4l2m2m: Poll thinks src Q has space; none found
<chewitt> what ffmpeg sources are you using?
<cyph84> dev/4.4/rpi_import_1
<cyph84> 766f042678
<cyph84> kernel is 5.17.5-meson64 from armbian
<chewitt> I stopped paying attention to Armbian patch sets some time ago
<chewitt> as long as the vdec patches from https://github.com/chewitt/linux/commits/amlogic-5.19.y are included
<cyph84> i tried  https://github.com/chewitt/linux/commits/amlogic-5.18.y commit a3ec4a99978d
<chewitt> I have working h264 seek using Kodi/ffmpeg
<cyph84> same result
<chewitt> what hardware are you trying to test with?
<cyph84> on Le Potato
<cyph84> from what i gathered  https://github.com/chewitt/linux/commits/amlogic-5.18.y  is supposed to seek properly as well?
<chewitt> it's a combo of kernel + ffmpeg + player app (Kodi)
<cyph84> so I guess somehow Kodi seeks in a way that works well
<chewitt> ^ put that on an SD card and boot to see
<cyph84> okie i'll do that tomorrow when I have access to the board :)
<cyph84> from what I understand of ffmpeg / MPV, seeking means that v4l2_decode_flush in ffmpeg has to be implemented properly?
