<fml> morning, i asked that over at freenode too but i guess all moved to here
<fml> today i tried to update my rpi4 from libreelec 9.2.8 to 10.0.2 by placing the new img i the update folder and reboot, which seemed to work fine
<fml> but now the rpi is not booting anymore, no display no network (ssh server)
<fml> so i flashed my ssd (from wich i boot) with the downloaded 10.0.2 img but that does also not boot with the same symptoms. tried the 10.0.1 one same result. then i tried the raspbian os just to make sure its not my dumbnes but that one worked flawlessly
<fml> is there any extra step that im missing to boot the libreelec img?
<fml> what i did (and what used to work) was wipe the ssd and dd the img onto it

<juri_> chewitt: where do i change any related settings?
<juri_> chewitt: it also effects audio in the kodi menus, and previously known playable files.

<danboid> Hi all
<danboid> Does coreelec use a mainline kernel?
<danboid> (not an Android/BSP one)
<danboid> This is for S905x3 but it seems its using the amlogic kernel

<fml> just trid the 32 bit one and it just does nothing when i run it
<fml> hmm
<Ommand> surely there are instructions for its use on the page you downloaded it form
<Ommand> from
<sopparus> hello
<sopparus> is there ANY reason why one would want true-hd instead of flac?
<sopparus> if I buy a reciever or something in the feature?
<sopparus> since both are lossless
LEBot has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<sopparus> true-hd has max 8 channels, same as flac
LEBot has joined #libreelec
<sopparus> im about to convert all my true-hd tracks to flac im there is nothing bad with it
<sopparus> since true-hd crashes libreelec when jumping.. :)
<sopparus> replace im with if

<fml> Ommand not really, it referrs to the wiki and there it only describes how to use it. seems like you should only run the .bin which does not do anything for me for some reason
<fml> i will try it on my windows machine later and see how that turns out
<fml> but why would it also not boot when i just clone the img to the boot device?
<mack> fml: dd, etc still work fine - there's no need to use the usb creator.
<Ommand> flac is still a thing? lol

<fml> mack you have an idea why it does not boot? also no idea where to look for logs at that stage :/
<fml> what i did was dd the img to my ssd and then boot from it. seemed to start reading stuff from it then stopped and stayed like that. no visual output at all

<mack> iirc, the update does a firmware upgrade for a Pi. Maybe your HDMI port got set to the other one?
<fml> okay tried to dd 10.0.2 img again (still cant boot). what i noticed is that i cannot mount the boot partition (throws invalid argument error) and checking the partition gives 'The file system's CHS geometry is (7631, 4, 8192), which is invalid.'
<fml> mack so you say just use the other port? let me test
<fml> no same result with the other port
<fml> also after repairing the partition i still cant mount it or boot from it
<mack> maybe boot to raspian and do rpi-update to rewrite the latest firmware?
<mack> make sure rpi-update updates itself first I think
pauljw has joined #libreelec
<mack> if that doesn't help, I'd hit the forum to see if anyone reported something similar.
<fml> i'll test that in an hour, thanks

<fml> is it normal that the boot partition is not mountable on linux?
<fml> i mean i just did a 'mount /dev/sdb1 /tmp/mount' which gave me invalid argument
