<midfavila> based web browser user
<midfavila> looks like he's still working on it too
<midfavila> i figured he'd given up
<midfavila> do you know if it compiles with GCC 11 yet?
<drez> no clue
<drez> come over to spyware muc dude
<midfavila> on libera?
<drez> oh not on libera
<drez> on xmpp
<midfavila> hmm
<drez> it's owned by the nuegia guy
<midfavila> i'll keep it in mind
<drez> anyway, idk if u remember but im the guy who was using sbase+ubase in january 2021
<midfavila> i need to find a not-cancer XMPP client
<drez> and motif
<drez> try mcabber midfavila
<drez> I even packaged mcabber back then
<drez> but i lost all those files
<midfavila> hmm. unfortunately i don't -- the last year has been extremely busy for me
<midfavila> sorry
<drez> it's fine
<drez> im going to try and make a kiss spinoff
<midfavila> chuffed i made enough of an impression for you to remember me though :P
<midfavila> and I mean, go for it
<drez> mixing between your packages and upstream
<midfavila> i've been using a personal spin for a while
<midfavila> oh?
<drez> porting a lot of old software as well
<drez> you already got motif and athena in i think
<midfavila> yup
<drez> so ill add like fox toolkit, gtk+1.2, tk etc etc
<midfavila> at the moment I have libXaw3dXft
<midfavila> seems to be the best overall option for Xaw at the moment
<drez> what does it do? run athena on motif or something like that?
<midfavila> gods no
<midfavila> it's Xaw3d with XFT support
<drez> xD
<midfavila> and that's it
<drez> oh, okay, that's cool
<midfavila> super easy to patch applications to take advantage of it
<midfavila> you can find example patches in my repo pretty easily -- you basically just throw a struct at the start of main() and call it a day
<midfavila> in the future i'd like to make my own version of Xaw that combines the best features of each fork i've stumbled across
<midfavila> there's like five or six unique variations i think?
<drez> i had no idea
<midfavila> yep.
<midfavila> ideally a Xaw with the QoL features necessary to displace MOTIF could be developed, but I'm not sure if that's possible whilst retaining binary compat. i need to do a lot more research into that
<midfavila> oh, cool, pidgin supports xmpp
<midfavila> should have figured
<drez> yep

<cyberkiller> Hello. I am trying to build rootfs via mkrootfs: https://0x0.st/oufp.txt
<cyberkiller> I need to install pod2man, right?
<cem> pod2man is part of perl
<cyberkiller> I am getting errors. It would be nice if someone could update the rootfs in the unofficial kisslinux repository, since the packages in the current rootfs are outdated

<illiliti> sounds like their governance model is totally fucked
<illiliti> just like any project where community has no power i think
<noocsharp> i know not what web4 will be built with, but web5 will be built with html4

<illiliti> i'm thinking that we need a new term to describe software that welcomes and respects community and contributors
<illiliti> good examples would be projects without CLA, CoCs and other harmful dumb rules, projects with powerful community, ...
<illiliti> an anti examples would be all google-owned projects, projects which ignores justified community needs, projects with tracking and telemetry
<illiliti> to note, the term definitely isn't free or open software
<illiliti> does such term exist already?
<ioraff> the cathedral and bazaar models capture some of those differences

<ehawkvu> Does anyone know what could be causing this issue?
illiliti has quit [Quit: leaving]
<ioraff> maybe because of the implicit DESTDIR?
<ehawkvu> ioraff: configure still fails
<ehawkvu> I'm just confused as to why it generates 'config.status' in the parent directory
<ioraff> getting a build failure with gnuclasspath https://0x0.st/ouOg.txt
<ehawkvu> ioraff: jdk0, 0.5, or 1?
<ioraff> 0
<ehawkvu> do you have 'file' installed?
<ioraff> yes
<ehawkvu> hmm
<ehawkvu> ioraff: try building now - I disabled the building of examples so hopefully that'll fix it
<ioraff> installing zip fixed it
<ehawkvu> added
<ioraff> having this issue with the jdk1 gnuclasspath https://0x0.st/ouOn.txt
<ehawkvu> That's a gettext error - just added gettext-tiny to extra/
<ioraff> complaining about a missing makeinfo https://0x0.st/ouOh.txt
<ehawkvu> ioraff: fixed
