bluh
<midfavila>
last few chapters of the little schemer don't fuck around
<cot>
what's your overall impression of the book?
<midfavila>
if you've got zero clue what recursion is and you want a really smooth exploration of it and its implications, it's really good for that up until about chapter eight
<midfavila>
which is when it smacks you with continuation-passing style
<midfavila>
it then follows this up with an exploration of things like the halting problem and combinators, before finishing with (from a brief skim) what appears to be an interpreter
<midfavila>
i'll probably skip the bit about CPS and come back to it later because it's a bit wrinkly-brained for me rn
<midfavila>
it's also a decent way to start learning scheme and lisp as a whole ig
<midfavila>
looking at some advanced material i happen to have on hand, it makes me feel a little better about not quite grokking CPS right away -- it's not mentioned in any of my books except Hanson and Sussman's Software Design for Flexibility, where it's described as "real magic"|
<midfavila>
anyway, not gonna blogpost here

Hi
<drez>
is adding a sort of useflag functionality to a personal fork of kiss package manager a horrible idea?
<drez>

i mostly agree. in addition, i'd say that wayland has major problems with portability
<illiliti>
wayland devs simply don't care about it. reference implementation excessively uses linux API like epoll, which is why i consider current freebsd support as a joke.
