(thank you for following the instructions!)
<whitequark[cis]>
to give insight into my reasoning: (2) is just fine, as for (1), we have never heard of any instability of the crystal on the FX2, and it is a robust part, so a minor change like that feels very unlikely to ever cause any problems
<whitequark[cis]>
broadly, the reason for that request (to not call the modified device Glasgow) is not to cause any difficulty for those manufacturing their own hardware and doing their best to avoid shortages, but to make sure people do not modify critical parts of the design (that they may not necessarily recognize as critical), or parts of design we have never fully specified to understand what the impact of such change may be, and unknowingly
<whitequark[cis]>
ending up with a new flaw that would not appear on any unmodified device
<whitequark[cis]>
an example of a change where I would not approve calling the device Glasgow is swapping the LDO for a different one. it is an annoying part to find but we have never found a functional replacement
<whitequark[cis]>
and it was not for the lack of trying
