<WhyNotHugo>
So foot's terminfo file is installed as foot-extras... but does any program read the file from that location?
<WhyNotHugo>
My confusion come from the fact that foot-extras-terminfo is a separate package, but it doesn't _replace_ ncurses-terminfo, so I don't quite understand the point of it.

WhyNotHugo: if you set $TERM or term in foot.ini to foot-extra it does
<dnkl>
we recommend distros set foot's default terminfo to "foot" (ncurses' version). the terminfo package is usually an optional package that requires the user to configure foot to use its terminfo instead of ncurses'
<j`ey>
foot-extra is an ugly $TERM value :'(

that escape does not do what you think it does...
<dnkl>
and no, foot does not implement smooth scrolling. Not that escape, and not what people usually think of when they say smooth scrolling
