hi guys, how can I change the colorscheme in foot?
<chymera>
looked through the wiki and it didn't say, only that there might be color issues with emacs

<dutchie>
see the colors section in foot.ini(5)
<dutchie>
chymera: ^^
<chymera>
dutchie: thanks, found it 💛
<chymera>
also, is there a way to refresh after changing the config without closing the window?
<cbb>
chymera: nope, there's no hot reloading
<cbb>
you have to restart to reload the config

cbb: is there a command for that I can run in the foot window which won't clear it?
<cbb>
chymera: clear what?
<chymera>
the text that's already in the terminal
<cbb>
that question doesn't really communicate anything, what are you trying to do specifically?

<cbb>
if you want to preview color schemes you have to change the config and then open a new foot instance
<cbb>
there's no way around that
<cbb>
well except using the escape code to change the colors dynamically
<cbb>
s/code/sequences/
<chymera>
hm, ok
<chymera>
is there any collection of configs I could maybe browse? this is taking too long XD I basically just want some colors that look ok on a white background

hi again, powerline symbols (as used by some vim/shell themes) seem to not show up very well in foot, right is alacritty left is foot: https://ppb.chymera.eu/78c7e3.png
<chymera>
there seem to be some thin separators for some reason

white backgrounds are a tough one, especially for yellows and greens
<tprepper>
chymera: wait, do you mean left is alacritty and right is foot?
cbb has quit [Quit: WeeChat 3.7.1]
<dnkl>
tprepper: chymera: no, the "space" between the triangle and the rest of the bar, in e.g. the lower right corner
<dnkl>
it's what happens when the width of the powerline glyphs don't match the width of the primary font
<dnkl>
i.e. you *have* to use the font containing the powerline symbols as the primary font
<dnkl>
if it still glitches, it's probably the font itself that is having issues at that precise pixel size. Try changing it. You don't have to go up/down a whole point, you can use fractional sizes to (e.g. 8.3)
<dnkl>
fwiw, the alacritty issue tracker is *full* of similar reports, for alacritty
<chymera>
tprepper: yes, sorry, I totally failed at left and right XD
<chymera>
the one with the gap, on the right, is foot
<chymera>
ok

do you guys know any good console font, sorry if a bit offtopic, but since I'm tweaking my term it would be a good time to try something else... not least of all because the standard monospace font for some reason looks a bit dodgy in foot (again on the right — https://ppb.chymera.eu/ee9a3d.png )
<chymera>
if I add character spacing it still doesn't really look right, and that's what causes the white line with the powerline glyphs
<chymera>
but maybe I just need a nicer font anyway
