mx08: did you setup bash to emit the prompt marker sequences?
<dnkl>
ah, see it works for you when rebinding
<dnkl>
weird

Hi everyone, I've started with the foot recently and I think I have a good enough configuration now. However, still fighting with one issue.
<jkonecny[m]>
When I press Ctrl+Shift+[any arrow] it will print `[1;6C` or similar. Don't you know why this is happening?
<jkonecny[m]>
it's pretty annoying, if someone could help me it would be great
<jkonecny[m]>
I'm using fish and starship (terminal prompt) but when I switched to bash or disabled starship the issue was still present so I guess it doesn't matter
<dnkl>
jkonecny[m]: those are escape sequences for said key combinations, that your shell doesn't recognize, and instead print them
<dnkl>
not sure what terminal you came from, but most terminals have this "issue"
<dnkl>
the issue is really that the key combination isn't mapped by the shell
<jkonecny[m]>
interesting, I never realized it before...
<jkonecny[m]>
I have multiple terminals installed
<jkonecny[m]>
Gnome terminal, Alacrity has it
<jkonecny[m]>
Kitty doesn't for some reason
<jkonecny[m]>
maybe that is the reason because I used Kitty before switching to this one
<jkonecny[m]>
on the opposed to that[111;10uWin+Shift+o is printing 'O' everywhere, except kitty where it prints '
<jkonecny[m]>
'[111;10u'
<jkonecny[m]>
sorry for breaking the links
<jkonecny[m]>
s/links/lines/
<jkonecny[m]>
in any case, sorry for a stupid question and thanks for explanation...
<dnkl>
jkonecny[m]: Kitty implements its own keyboard protocol, with multiple "levels". the default level is "mostly" compatible with the XTerm keyboard protocol (used by all other emulators), but not quite...
<jkonecny[m]>
oh, ok - thanks for explanation. Seems to me like a reason why not to go for kitty. Could be a bit fragile
<dnkl>
jkonecny[m]: I wouldn't worry too much about it - it only shows in "weird" key combinations, typically not used by any shells anyway.
<dnkl>
the kitty keyboard protocol itself is actually really good. Foot implements all the higher levels of it, but uses the xterm protocol by default
<jkonecny[m]>
good to know 🙂
<jkonecny[m]>
BTW do foot project has a roadmap or something similar so I would know for what I should be looking forward to? 😄

jkonecny[m]: no. I consider foot mostly feature complete already. But we obviously try to keep up with Wayland development in general. There's also work being done on colored undercurlies, but other than that, no big features at the moment

dnkl: Yes, I have bash emit the prompt marker sequences. Jumping to previous prompts works, but not to the next prompts ("down" / Ctrl-Shift-x). And no, it does not work when rebinding, I was merely noting that bash seems to make extensive use of C-x, so maybe there is a clash of bindings somewhere. Also I did not yet investigate further because ENOTIME, but I have it on my list (not too important
<mx08>
for me, though).
<Arnavion>
The Ctrl-X bindings work for me (Ctrl-X, X and Ctrl-X, E), so that shouldn't be the reason
