<tkna> Should I assume that Printscreen is not available in foot terminal? When I press Printscreen after this command, it does not show up. `sudo showkey --ascii`
<tkna> As far as I can tell from examining the configuration file, I don't think printscreen is captured by the swaywm I'm using.
<Arnavion> PrintScreen works in sway just fine. I don't know what showkey is but you can check with wev
<Arnavion> Note that PrintScreen won't be passed to applications if you set up a bindsym for it
<Arnavion> (It'll be called Print in the sway config if you want to search for it)
<dnkl> Print (screen) doesn't have a defined escape sequence, nor does is it "printable" (like 'a', 'b', etc). hence there's nothing to pass to the client application
<dnkl> xterm behaves the same way
<dnkl> however, if you enable the kitty keyboard protocol, then you should see a CSI-u sequence for Print
<tkna> It certainly seems to show up in kitty. https://paste.rs/RLW.sh
<tkna> No, I was just a little curious if it was possible to assign to tmux keybindings, I asked the tmux people and was referred here. If it looks too difficult, I'll assign it to something else.
<dnkl> kitty uses a nonstandard default keyboard protocol
<dnkl> the escape you pasted is what you'll see in foot as well, when the kitty keyboard protocol is enabled.
<dnkl> the kitty keyboard protocol has multiple 'layers', or "features" that can be enabled. kitty by default enables level 0, which is "almost" compatible with the "normal" keyboard protocol (used in all other terminals). foot supports the kitty keyboard protocol level 1 and above, but not level 0.
<dnkl> given how the keyboard protocol works on level 1 and above, it's not something you'll want to enable manually in a shell. it's probably better to bind it to something else
<tkna> dnkl: Thanks. I will assign the key bindings to something else.
