<JEEB>
there, finally was able to send v5 of the avctx side data set
<j-b>
yay JEEB
<JEEB>
and if I didn't take action on someone's review points, I'm sorry. I did go through some points raised with v4, but even that was almost a month ago, probably
<JEEB>
if you just note it again or link towards I can then take action :)
<jamrial>
JEEB: i think elenril mentioned yesterday to also go the data pointer and size route, like with packet side data
<JEEB>
I don't think he said that explicitly
<JEEB>
he said that in general like your patch set
<JEEB>
> well, ideally it'd match what we ended up doing for packet side data
<JEEB>
I took that as a general comment on how it's implemented
<jamrial>
i interpreted that as including not using a set struct :p
<jamrial>
so things match
<JEEB>
if it was "get rid of the struct", I'm fine with that too. it's just that the struct did not fit with the avpacket side data case, since there the ptr and counter already were there
<jamrial>
yeah, but they could have been easily replaced
<JEEB>
also it's kind of hilarious how absolutely no-one has noticed or commented on the `Note:` bit in my cover letter
<jamrial>
has happened to some patches i sent too :p
<jamrial>
exposed list of supported side data is probably a good idea. i think i suggested something like that for packet side data too
<JEEB>
yea, would also let there be any generic logic for a codec
<JEEB>
for example so that not each encoder would have to implement its own HDR10 metadata SEI generation, but just the generic thing could utilize CBS for it
<JEEB>
but first of all I need the basics to settle ^^;
<JEEB>
as we cannot move init to first frame, you need to be able to configure side data to avctx
<JEEB>
or well, technically we could move init there but that'd be a big change regarding how the API expects to work
<JEEB>
so yea, I'd like to get the basics first :P
