<dustymabe> "`isoinfo -J -i ./Fedora-Server-..." <- no, haven't heard about that yet. seems like a regression on install media side. any idea where to file the bug?
<dustymabe>
crobinso: interesting... I'm on an older pre4.0 version of virt-manager right now. I know latest changed to prefer xorriso
<dustymabe>
so was going to see once I got to the new version if I still had the same provlem
<dustymabe>
though.. there are other problems with newer f37 and `--location`
<dustymabe>
that I can see
<dustymabe>
so in order to workaround the other issue I just mounted the ISO on /mnt and then passed --location /mnt
<crobinso>
hmm
<dustymabe>
but that didn't work (maybe it didn't work before either)
<dustymabe>
because virt-install finds the kernel and initrd, but there's no kernel arg for stage2 and that seems to be required now
<dustymabe>
so the install gets part way up, but then dies in initqueue
<dustymabe>
presumably because there's no stage2
<dustymabe>
what does work is if I expose a webserver on /mnt/ and then feed it a URL to that
<dustymabe>
cc adamw - in case he's familiar with any of these problems
<crobinso>
<dustymabe> "but that didn't work (maybe it..." <- yeah --location /mnt doesn't really work automagically. there's probably some way to get it to work with attaching as cdrom media with --disk device=cdrom,path=FOO and maybe some `inst.` kernel arg

crobinso: well we could pick up the stage2 from the treeinfo and then inject it in the initrd at the expected location
<dustymabe>
I was going to do it with --inject-initrd but that only supports droping files in the root dir of the initrd IIUC - I think this would need to go under a directory (according to the stage2 docs)
<crobinso>
yeah there's probably some magic to make it work. but since --location ISO is supposed to work, I've never really looked into it
<dustymabe>
oh actually maybe I could then just add a stage2 arg that tells anaconda it's at the root dir
